    About "Ruth Rendell"

      • Ruth Rendell

Ruth Rendell Is a well-known author, some of his books are a fascination for readers like in the An Unkindness Of Ravens (Inspector Wexford) book, this is one of the most wanted Ruth Rendell author readers around the world.

    2. It's impossible for me to comment on this book without risking spoilers, but I will try to be discreet. This is a book with extremely dated and disturbing attitudes to incest and feminism. Though I am a great fan of Ruth Rendell and the Inspector Wexford series, I found these attitudes extremely off-putting and, ultimately, stopped reading. I am not particularly sensitive about these issues and can usually tolerate a lot on the basis of changing social views. However, the wrong-headed attitude [...]

    3. Rendell is one of the acknowledged queens of the genre. She wrote under a number of pseudonym but her Wexford\Burden series are certainly the most well known. This is a good exemplar of the series. You encounter the Chief Inspector and his wife Doris as well as one of his two now adult daughters, the actress, Sheila. His partner Mike Burden is suffering unexpected domestic turmoil as a backdrop to a murder that seems to have bubbled up from a sea of murky domestic troubles. But things keeps c [...]

    4. This was not one of my favorite Rendell books, having read her many times in the past. I couldn't get a bead on the characters and there were SO many characters and side stories that I constantly had to re-figure out who was who.

    5. This is not your run-of-the-mill police procedural or comfy cozy, but a thinking reader's smart, well-crafted novel full of carefully drawn characters. Look sharp and keep them all straight, and you will be rewarded with a satisfying read. Rendell has few equals when it comes to this sort of storytelling.

    6. I'd forgotten just how twisted Ruth Rendell could be! This one pits the lives of Wexford & Burden against a setting that challenges their ideas about women, relationships, fatherhood, and more. In some ways, it's an educational peek at feminism in other ways, it's just a good puzzle with a cast of less-than-lovable characters.
