    1. Without a doubt the best travel guide to Ukraine available. The author's years of experience living and traveling in the country are condensed into these pages. The result is an extremely informative travel guide that anyone in Ukraine will find invaluable. Unlike the Lonely Planet guide, this book will actually make you want to visit (and not just Kyiv and L'viv). Evans' fascination with the country and its people is infectious, and he approaches travel and tourism in Ukraine from exactly the r [...]

    2. Andrew Evans blends a wealth of information with a strong readable narrative which has a wonderful conversational tone. 'Ukraine' delivers far more than a straightforward guide. There's a lengthy section on the country's history, which is fascinating and before the reader even begins to read about the diverse places to visit, there are sections on geography, climate, politics, culture and more! But even if the reader cuts to the chase and reads, say, the chapter on Vinnitsya, then the background [...]

    3. I used this more for the planning of my trip than as a practical guide on the ground (although a bit of that as well). I had no clue of what, specifically, I wanted to see or where I wanted to go in Ukraine, so this was a great way to get an overview of the options and build from there. (I often find the information overload on the Internet a bit overwhelming if you're starting without a clear idea of what to do on your holiday.) Good background information as well, although I think it over-exag [...]

    4. I used this book when traveling around Ukraine in June. It does a good job of taking you around the sights of major cities (I was in Odessa and Kiev).Best Feature: Gives (somewhat) accurate pricing on what a taxi should cost going from the airport--invaluable when haggling!

    5. Well it worked for me, but then I'm never a slave to guidebooks, don't really care if the prices etc are up to date (are they ever?) and didn't go far off the beaten path But this got me round Pechersky Lavra and so on, and has some serious background.

    6. Very good history section, city overviews, and maps (as is typical of all Bradt guides I have used). Not author's fault, but the Kiev restaurant section was very out of date in August 2013, many listed places I looked for were closed.
