    1. Good fun if you're twelve and think that love excuses everything. But once you get older, you'll start to realise that this isn't romantic. This isn't romantic at all. This is abuse and, as is sadly often the case, Japanese mangaka seem to be condoning it, because your boyfriend is controlling your life, and, well, isn't that just so gosh-darned sweet of him?The only difference between the actions of Kyo and all the other men who target Misao is that Misao is in love with Kyo. The fact that she [...]

    2. When I first read this I thought it was interesting, and the romance was cute . . . I was also 14 when I read it. Now I'm a little concerned on what I liked at that age. There really isn't a plot in this story nor are there any character development within this manga series. Black Bird in a nutshell is the head of the Tengu clan named Kyo trying to kill anyone who gets in between him and Misao who is the Senka or the Holy Fruit just to get into her pants.I wouldn't have a problem with this serie [...]

    3. The 'relationships' in this book are gross. The whole premise is that this girl is super-power for demons. If they eat her, drink or blood or marry her they get stronger. She gets no power out of this. She is inept at anything and is constantly being hurt by even minor demons. She has no real power to stop the human looking heads of clans that come to marry her. One of the demons 'loves' her enough that he is protecting her and has not tried to force himself on her physically (much) but he comes [...]

    4. "If a monster drinks my blood, his life will be prolonged. If he eats my flesh he will never grow old, he'll be immortal. If he takes me for his wife, his whole clan will prosper."Misao has become the Holy Fruit for demons and because of that she's become the target of Demon Clans. I like the premise enough but I just can't stand the perverseness of this manga. Oh sure the smut is hot but I just don't like perverted leading men and guys who use force on women. Shoujo manga is supposed to be read [...]

    5. 3.5 vercem ben buna.

    6. This book was amazing! It entranced and pulled me in from beginning to end! I couldn't put the book down for a second! I just had to finish it! I am ecstatic and cannot wait to buy the second book and read more!Black bird is about a demon boy (a Tengu), Kyo, trying to get the main character, Misao Harada, become his bride so his clan may prosper. For she is a special human with special blood, and every demon in all of Japan will do anything to have her.Kyo and Misao were child hood friends and s [...]

    7. Thanks to Kat Stark for her review! For years, I've been looking for this manga ever since an old friend introduced me to the series and it's not because I want to read it again, but because of the soft porn and the silly characters were worth discussing with my sister. She loves reading manga, so I thought she might have read this, but it didn't jog any memories for her.All in all, Black Bird was definitely one of those guilty-pleasure reads and I only made it up to Vol. 6 before I gave up. I wo [...]

    9. I honestly don't know how to review this manga. I want to say it's the worst I've ever read, but that would be disingenuous - certain elements are the worst I've ever read, but certain elements are quite good. Perhaps I could say that I wanted to like this, but that certain elements prevented me. But that wouldn't be quite right either. Quite frankly, this book looks like it would be a stupid romance - I have no idea why I bought it. Truly, the nature of this book prevents me from introducing it [...]

    10. This review was updated on A Weebish Book Blog as part of my TBT Review feature. Review publishes on 01/18/2018.Fifteen-year-old Misao Harada has been able to see demons since she was a small child. After her sixteenth birthday, the demons who usually weren't anything more than playful poltergeists have turned downright deadly. They want to consume her powers or force her hand in marriage. Meanwhile, childhood friend and first love Kyo, has returned to town and has promised to save her from the [...]

    13. I've read more than this one, but the series is just so smutty. The main character seems to be incredibly dim and refuses to defend herself in any way, while the main male is so blatantly sexualized that everything he does can be seen as kinky. I got tired of this. Just peruse these comments from other reviewers:"Anime News Network's Casey Brienza commends the English edition of the manga for being "amusing and sexy. Good if you want to put your critical sensibilities into neutral with something [...]

    14. A smuttier version of Twilight, where an abusive relationship is justified under the pretense of one party being supernatural. The heroine is defined by her frail human weaknesses; she's attractive only because of a deus ex machina whereby she's the "Bride of Prosperity" or some nonsense like that, which makes her irresistible to monsters in a raping, flesh eating sort of way. Her love interest constantly forces himself on her, but because he doesn't have sex with her, it's okay. His ability to [...]

    15. Don't ask me why I love this manga, I just do. Every time I see that a new volume is out I have to get it and read it soon after! It's perverted- but sweet at the same time that you just have to love itMisao Harada is your average teenage girl- only she is the legendary Senka Maiden and demons from all over want 1. her flesh, 2. her blood, or 3. to make her their bride. And to make matters even worse her best friend from her childhood, her first love who moved away 10 years earlier, turns out to [...]

    16. Well, that cover was basically warning me to run away. This fragile looking girl with tears on her eyes, blood on her shoulders and an arrogant guy that's grabbing her- NO NO NO. Amanda, NO. Amanda, DON'T. Amanda, RUN AWAY. Amanda, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. Amanda, WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF? First of all, she gets attacked and saved by this piece of shit, Kyo, two times in one chapter. Like damn. Can it get more fast-paced and stupid than that? YES, unfortunately it can. Because the first thing [...]

    17. I really wish there were more supernatural manga that wasn’t flat out shojo because way too much of that genre is far too stupid-romantic for me. I knew that going into this, but like always I held out hope. I have no idea why. This is a cookie cutter shojo paranormal romance with a heroine who spends all her time blushing and being rescued. Sigh. And it doesn’t help I’m reading at least three other manga with this same plot (though mostly sans the romance).Misao Harada can see spirits. Na [...]

    18. Note: This review is for the entire series. I’ll only do individual reviews for a series when it has 5 volumes or less or I've received a copy in exchange for an honest review.Black Bird ended up just being an okay series for me that I think could have been told in less than 18 volumes. There was a lot of potential with the demon and senka maiden mythology, but it just never quite lived up to my expectations. I wanted more action, but instead I got more mushy, over sexed romance. I liked the d [...]

    19. Well every time I went into the bookstore and I drifted toward the back where they keep the manga or as they call them graphic novels. I would see this series. I was hesitant to pick it up because of the cover. I don't know what I was thinking, but I digress. So on my latest excursion to the bookstore with my card in hand. I picked it up and let it be known that I did some damage that day. They didn't even have a big enough for all my purchases. But anyway, I brought my books home and arranged t [...]

    20. Plot: Although I feel like I have read something similar to this before, Black Bird definitely kept my attention. I absolutely loved that Sakurakoji mixes bits of violence, romance, and Japanese folk lore into this novel creating something that feels both authentic and fictional at the same time. The pacing of the novel is also something that really impressed me. The details of the novel are slowly revealed which allowed me to get to know the characters and understand each person's role in the o [...]

    21. worst book ever when i got later into the series it was exactly like twilight heres how and the main character is just like bella a totally selfish person! no exaggerations*no glittering vampires instead the demons have bird beaks*kaikoh is in jacobs part only he means well more than jacob but is treated worse and she misoa knows what he's going through and still criticizes him*sho is like the varden so what if he saved you everyone elsa would have too yet you care for him even though he tried t [...]

    22. Misao is a girl who can see creatures that no one else can, as long as she can remember she has these dreams about a boy and those dreams always seemed so real but she can never remember them wholly. As she becomes 16, everything seems to be happening all at once, the house in front of her apartment building is occupied by Kyo, who resembles the boy of her dreams and strange things (stranger than usual) are starting to happen to her with Kyo's arrival such as being attached by a boy who wants to [...]

    23. I'm not one to reivew manga, although I'm a manga crazed person. I live, breath and draw manga, but for some reason this one wasn't up to par as some of the others I have read. The artwork is pretty enough, but I felt like I could have been reading a manga like version of Twilight, except with demons. Maybe there will be more to itI've only read the 1st volume, and lately I haven't been in the mood for mangad I know. I'm not gonna give up entirely on this series, but so far, I'm not impressed on [...]

    24. Never before have I wanted to give someone a hardcore, near-fatal wedgie as much as I do now.Forgettable manga, and with horrible characters.
