    1. I'm not sure if I should warn you about spoilers, because I mean, the story is about an alien invasion. Leaving out that detail kind of leaves you with nothing left to tell. So, spoiler alert: ALIENS!Anyway, the book starts out with a kind of rant about how arrogant people are to assume they are the only intellingent life in the universe. So you already know what is coming, right from the start. Which I kind of like, it immediately shows you what kind of book this is: an account of "that time th [...]

    2. Originally written in 1897 by HG Wells, then adapted by Malvina Vogel and illustrated by Brendan Lynch in the 1980s this 'Great Illustrated Classics' edition of 'The War of the Worlds' is most definitely geared towards a younger audience. This being said, it is however still an enjoyable & quick read. Brendan Lynch's 1983 illustrations now also add a rather humourous edge to the tale in that the aliens in the story somewhat resemble Rovio Entertainment's Angry Birds.Worth a look for a light [...]

    3. I liked this book so much it was not like a book only for children. This book was adapted for too many movies and one of the famous ones is war of the world 2005,with Tom Cruise , but despite that Tom Cruise movie was in 2000s, Well set of the story period of time in the 1800s when there was no cars or advance technology. I liked how smooth was the writing style and the illustrations were perfect. I would like to read other books like this, " great illustrated classic. I was frustrated at the be [...]

    4. I read this book a lot while growing up because I just loved it. It was absolutely one of my favorites. When I was older, I borrowed a collection of H.G. Wells stories from a library and the full version was in it, so I learned that this one is actually an abridgement. In all honesty, however, I did not like the full story quite so well. I suppose this condensed version is just so exciting for a young mind. Perhaps I should revisit the story, in one form or another

    5. It was fascinating to read this book for several reasons:1. It's always cool to see someone else's prospective on aliens.2. Wells talks about "space travel in future" -- and now we have space travel!3. It's always fun to read a classic and see what all the fuss is about.

    6. I read these when I was little, and they still hold up -- if you just kind of want the plot and supporting pictures for classic novels. My son loves these now, too.

    7. loved as a kidthere are a great trip down memory kane. they are still quick paced and easy to read. worth the price.

    8. I'm so glad I finally read this book. I feel like I've seen about thirty different movies based on this novel, but finally, having read the real thing, I feel so accomplished. Now, I can reward myself with a pan of brownies or an entire plate of cookies. Because while reading these older classics is rewarding in a purely intellectual sense, it can also be about as much fun as having a tooth drilled at times. Things have just changed so much. These days we can have entire conversations in thirty [...]

    9. Of course I have seen the movies, listened to the amazing music by Jeff Wayne but I don't think I have ever actually read the book. The language is lovely, very smooth and classy. The first lines are beautiful."No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perha [...]

    10. Imagine the world ,one day it was peacful and then the next day, the world is torn apart, and a few days later everything is back to normal. Thats what "The War Of The Worlds" is about, this man named Wells is living a happy life with his wife when the unexpectible happens, martians attack the Earth! Everyone thinks hes crazy when he brings back the news of the attack . But when the martians come to the village, everyone was aorry that they hadn't belived Wells, So Wells gets his wife and rides [...]

    11. "The War of The Worlds" by H.G. Wells is great science fiction filled with action and adventure. It begins with aliens landing on earth and they start to invade a small town. The military tries to stop them from expanding and moving to other towns. the military dose not succeed and they go from town to town. When the aliens run out of food they take the humans food. Then they die because human food has bacteria and the aliens could not fight it off because their is no bacteria on their planet. W [...]

    12. Entertaining short read for me (started Monday night was done Tuesday night) I've just read 3 sci-fi books in a row, and am ready to take a break. I always marvel at the different takes of the future or other planets that writers in the past have had. Sort of a "History of the Future" if I can steal the name from my universities class on sci-fi.

    13. I kind of didn't like it because of the pictures, they were pretty detailed. And that was probably the scariest of science fiction books I've ever read. But anyways, it was pretty good. Well I would recommend it to you if you like sort of scary books, and if you like martians, science fiction and all that stuff.

    14. This book is full of action and adventure. I enjoyed reading this book due to the massive amount of action depicted by the author. The ending surprised me the most. I don't want to spoil it but I love a good book with a twist at the end. Overall, it was a very good book of you are into science fiction.

    15. To be honest, this book was a waste of my time. I don't know what made me not like it; I think it was a combination of how it was written and just how absurd the content was (I know that's the point, but I feel like it could have been written much better).

    16. This book was very captivating.I personal love the fighting scenes and how they got rid of the martians. Some of the times it lost me.But it was a very good book.
