    1. My local library didn't have a copy of Bligh's original memoir, but this abridged-for-younger-readers version is faithful to the spirit of the original text. The rigors of life aboard 18th-century sailing ships, the motivations that First Mate Fletcher Christian may have had for leading a famous mutiny against his captain, and the perils of navigating uncharted waters in a small craft all come through loud and clear. Had Bligh thought his memoir needed a subtitle, it could well have been "how br [...]

    2. I didnt read this version. Mine was definitely a bit more challenging, but i loved the story! It was amazing seeing how so many men survived on just a small dingy for that long! Depending on what you are interested in, to me this was actually a very interested a suspenseful book as you are taken along a very long journey as several men cease to survive on just a small row boat with limited food and shelter!

    4. If this were a work of fiction, I would only have given it 2 stars, but the fact that this was a true story, and that this was from his personal journal, made the book much more fascinating. i read it with Nathanael, and we both wanted to know what had happened to Christian Fletcher and the rest of the mutineers. We'll have to look that up.

    5. This is a supposed “children’s version” of the famous story, but the facts speak for themselves. Captain Bligh is the author here, and even though he gives it his own spin, you can still see he was a monster.

    6. Upon the high seas, there is no more traitorous deed than the act of mutiny. But like any divisive act there are two sides to every story. The notorious recounting of Captain William Bligh in his writings The Mutiny on Board H.M.S. Bounty" paint a portrait of a stern but fair captain pitted against an increasingly lazy and rebellious crew. Led by First Mate Fletcher Christian, the story of what happened on Bligh's ship is debated til this day, but fascination with the most famous mutiny in histo [...]

    7. The Mutiny on Board HMS Bounty is about a ship-full of men that goes on an adventure. They go to many different islands and deal with many different kinds of people. But, in the middle of the trip, half of the crew turns against the captian. So, the captian and the loyal crew mates get thrown onto a small row boat and have to live in it till they are able to find land. Eventually they all find land and have only lost the life of one person. They get help from the natives and find their way back [...]

    8. Even though this book was loaded with facts I really enjoyed it like no other. This may be one of the best books I have ever read. I think this because the loaded story it had in it was just so rich and powerful. It had me at every word the whole way threw it. Like always I wish I could reading a million times over. Which I mean I can but nobody got time for that.

    9. One of the best books I've read when I was a kid. It made me appreciate Stevenson's Treasure Island. Sadly the death of Captain Cook portrayed was rather more lugubrious and morbid. We should promote classical literature to younger generations. Often very rare do I get to know of young people who read Classics.

    10. I was more confused by this than anything. Firstly, I had no idea this was based on true events. I thought it was fiction. Secondly, I couldn't, for the life of me, understand the point of the mutiny. It made no sense to me and was not clearly explained. It was a good book but a trifle disappointing. I'll have to read the unabridged novel to get a fuller picture.

    11. My grandpa AND (step)grandfather on my mom's side are both either fans of boats or shipwreck stories. On their urging I read this as my literature class (except unabridged). I actually liked it! It was kind of interesting and fun to read.

    12. This pocket book version was given to me sometime when I was 10 years old. I don't remember much about it except that I did not like it very much.

    13. The first novel I read! Back when I was in 9th grade. Loved these type of adventurous books back in school days :)

    14. Loved this and just about any other sea-going adventure. With great plots of betrayal, tyranny and despotism, a sea adventure is just the side-note, but a good one.

    15. Good adaptation of the mutiny for the children 8-12 years old. All pages have illustrations which make it interesting for kids to read.

    16. An account of Captain William Bligh's voyage in an open boat out in the Pacific, after the ship under his command, Bounty, is taken over by mutineers led by Fletcher Christian
