she does and for that, has made some enemies in her village Something happens and she is forced out of her village to act as tribute and is given the impossible task of killing the god that threatens their lands I really enjoyed the easy flow of this book, the pace was just fantastic The world building was really well written There is a slow burn romance, but also a good bit of blood and guts as well as many action scenes The creatures in the Wild are fierce and unique To me this book reminded me at times of The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner Being a fan of both I was captivated and drawn into this story Rasmiras character growth, along with some other characters in the book, was refreshing Warrior of the Wild had a great overall message and I totally recommend it if you re looking for expressing emotions had no bearing on her skills as a warrior was a beautiful thing to witness I absolutely adored the romance and Soren is now one of my favorite love interest We need men who love and support strong women He was just this sweet cinnamon roll full of positivity I liked how he was persistant in getting Rasmira to like him without being creepy about it His best friend Iric on the other hand had a cynical attitude that hid a caring, brave and hardworking spirit.I liked how their qualities balanced each other out Rasmiras determination to find a way home made the two boys believe it was possible while their resourcefulness and experience living in the wild really came in handy I thought Rasmiras leadership skills shined through when she got the two boys to talk it out so they could move on from past mistakes and work together as a team I just loved them as a group and how they slowly came to care for each other All three characters got some great development Rasimira learned to become a better leader, while Soren learned to let go of his guilt, and Iric learned to take responsibility Their decisions made sense to me and they all felt like authentic people. We get a couple antagonists with the cruel god being the main one, but theres also a couple boys from her village who have it out for Rasnmira as well as her mothers resentment causing some serious friction between them Not to mention her fathers total lack of help when she was facing banishment At first I was unsure about the whole parents as villain trope I know not all parents are good to their children, but since I cant relate it was difficult for me to see it as believable However the way it all played out in the end was very satisfying Proving her parents wrong and standing up for herself added a wonderful layer of emotion to the story While Rasmiras relationship with her parents was strained, I found her relationship with her sisters super heartwarming.I thought the viking inspired world had some fascinating elements to it There s the cruel god with mysterious powers that comes around every year demanding tribute while the villages actually follow a religion that worships a female goddess We also get a few unique and deadly creatures The main ones reminding me of insects but like a huge terrifying version Plus their journey leads them to discover new and rare beasts I appreciate little unusual details like how nothing is made of wood because it would all crumble within a few days I thought the world building elements were all introduced in a way that made it effortless to understand, especially since there wasnt any new magic system to learn Despite the lack of magic the characters find different uses from materials in their natural environment that was pretty awesome. The plot consisted of different quests that I thought were lot of fun and kept the pace engaging We also got some compelling tension with the wilds being so dangerous I predicted some of the twists, but I still felt strong emotions when they happened The writing was straight to the point and easy to get immersed in which I really liked since we still got fleshed out characters and an interesting world The story takes place over a couple months and the passing of time was written in seamlessly The dialogue felt natural and had some cute banter The lovely message that woman can be both strong and express their emotions is highlighted in a couple wonderful passages Im happy with how the story was wrapped up in a standalone, but I loved it so much I hope we get in the magic It was fun to watch Rasmira truly struggle with the elements she encounters in the wild Nothing ever felt too easy for her The stakes were constantly high and really kept me turning the Vikings and mythological monsters I fell so deeply into this world that the author creates, I finished the book in less than 24 hours.Rasmira is our main character, born and raised in a small Viking village From the moment she declared herself a warrior at the age of 10, she faced nothing but ridicule and bullying from her peers Her mentors provided her with conflicting behavior, giving her praise while ignoring others Rasmira will be the ruler of her village, inheriting her father s legacy as leader She just has to pass the warrior test Every 18 year old in the village declares their profession and performs a test in front of everyone She knows she is ready She has trained for this moment for 8 years, and she couldn t be prepared Until the day for the trial comes and she is sabotaged.Suddenly, everything and everyone she has ever known and loved turn on her In the blink of an eye, Rasmira is no longer a warrior She is exiled from her home, her family, and the boy she thought she loved Sent into the dangerous wild surrounding her village, she is given one task to complete before she is allowed to return One single task Kill the God that plagues the villages Peruxolo is a powerful immortal, and each of the seven villages pay him tribute once a year The God claims their meat, their gems, and their women he possesses the power to strike down a man without touching him How can she kill an immortal God I fell completely in love with our main character Rasmira is a strong willed, powerful woman Warrior of the Wild is the story of a lost girl trying to find herself in a world she no longer understands I loved being able to witness her growth the years of constant ridicule because she is different both hurting her and helping her to become the warrior she is meant to be Destined to rule, her ability to change herself because she wants to, not because people tell her she should is admirable.I was pleasantly surprised that bullying was a huge theme in this story The way that the author addresses it was wonderful She is able to show the character grow from a damaged girl into a woman that believes in herself I cannot say enough about the importance of this theme in YA It is rarely acknowledged, yet is a huge issue in a lot of young lives Thank you Miss Levenseller for creating a beautiful, strong female character that is flawed and damaged She is the hero of this story in ways than one.All in all I LOVED this adventure It was a heart touching, epic ride into the wilds of Viking territory, rife with horrifying mythological monsters, as well as monsters that end up being human I highly recommend preordering this one you will not want to miss it Thank you to the author, Tricia Levenseller and the publisher, MacMillan for axe, so he planned for her to become a warrior and take over There are trials that everyone warrior in training must participate in Rasmira is expected to do great, but things don t go as planned Any warrior that fails is sent into the wild with a mattugr These quests are given out, but they seem like a death sentence Rasmira s is to kill the God, Peruxolo.Rasmira expected to be alone in the wild, but she quickly finds two boys that were banished from their own village As much as she tries to avoid them, she finds that it s helpful to have others around Rasmira is struggling with trust issues, but she cant help but become friends with them She is the strongest warrior and helps save them than once But they also help save her, too Each scar marks me as a survivor A warrior of the wild.Soren and Iric were raised as brothers in the same village Soren talked Iric into the trials and when Iric failed, Soren decided to fail on purpose He couldn t let Iric go into the wild on his own Their friendship was having issues because of this, but Soren was determined to keep Iric safe They have been living in the wild for a year Neither had even attempted to complete their mattugr Iric won t give up on his love that is still in their village But other than that, they mostly just try to stay alive. The wild is full of dangerous creatures This was one of my favorite things in the story The ziken really stand out to me because they re venomous, regenerate lost limbs, and love human flesh They have a hard exoskeleton and big, bug eyes They re also 2 3 feet tall Ziken can only be killed by beheading There are other equally creepy animals, too I loved the banter between Iric, Soren, and Rasmira Iric was a favorite of mine quickly While Rasmira is awesome because she s tough, Iric is funny and kind Soren was my least favorite, but he really grew on me He was loyal and loving Rasmira starts having feelings for Soren and their growing relationship is sweet and doesn t feel rushed A man who finds his masculinity threatened by a powerful woman is no man at all, he says You want someone who lifts you up, not tries to bring you down Rasmira decides to push the boys and make sure they all finish their quests and stay alive The pacing is good and the book was hard to put down There honestly wasn t anything negative for me.Warnings for brief talk of rape nothing descriptive A crafts a Viking inspired world in Warrior of the Wild This world includes fantastical elements to add to the atmosphere of danger within the story I thought that the world was well created and I 3. COVER REVEAL And I love it D Now reading the posted synopsis and I just have to say, Vikings Hell yes Loved the author s debut I am excited to read of her work.

    4. I really liked this take on Vikings It s definitely not a Viking story it s just heavily influenced by Norse mythology and culture But I do love me a good badass female protagonist, which is what Raz is For being such a short standalone, there s some good character growth and world development packed in there Definitely a fun story.
