she has enough on her mind with out falling in love with an alienright Just thinking about this book gives me the warm fuzzies, it was just so darn sweet Ruby Dixon once again has me falling in love with an alien, only this time he is red and not blue Vordis has spent all his life being treated as a slave objectified and disposable More like a tool to be used rather than a person He had a lot to adjust to in this new world including seeing himself as a an independent person from his brother Thrand I love how Dixon handled this, it was both heartbreaking and uplifting to see Vordis discover a new life It also got me excited to read about Thrand who was, like Vordis, adjusting to his new reality.Angie also had a shock waking up heavily pregnant and surrounded by aliens She didn t know how to feel about the pregnancy or the baby she was carrying Both Vordis and Angie were fairly isolated individuals from the rest of the group I loved seeing their relationship develop Unlike Willa s Beast which was sexy as hell, this was of a slow burn They have an attraction between them but they don t act on it until towards the end of the book Angie is heavily pregnant in a world with no comfortssex isn t really on her mind But, that didn t stop this being romantic Like all Dixon s heroes Vordis had a drive to protect and take care of his heroine, it was adorable. This was another great book in the series, I love how flexible Dixon is with her stories Her books can go from red hot with lots of sexy times, to books like this one which are really sweet and have a bit character have are mentally slow She knows he was just misreading the situation, and she says that about a short bus, which is very offensive because of how she said it and because she felt so insulted There is nothing wrong with mental slowness, and a character with that attitude doesn t deserve a book, so I have reservations about this character.3 I have reservations about other characters , too, now I m sure most of it will work itself out in time, but right now it s weird The spin the bottle thing They know they will likely eventually resonate, and it s dumb to kiss or try to win over other people you re going to be living in a small community with knowing you may end up with someone else and have to still see the other s all the time I m still bothered by the Claire and Bek thing Yuck.4 When I first read that Angie would not end up with both twins , I was disappointed I thought it made no sense I was wrong I love love love how this story was done Everything makes so much sense now, and I m very glad that the brothers will have their own mates I m not at all opposed to threesome relationships, and I wouldn t be opposed to a book like that, but I m glad Vordis and Thrand have their own mates There was so much about freedom, choice, and individuality in this book that was really well thought out and written I m not sure how any threesome relationships would work though because of the khuis If two people resonate but keep a previous pleasure mate or gain one, what if that pleasure mate resonates to someone later I think that road would be weird and difficult given the current rules for this series.5 I love how Vordis claims Glory as his own It s how families should be, and I just loved it Vordis is an amazing person overall I liked him and Angie than some other characters I definitely enjoyed this book than the recent one with the female character who was horribly stereotyped and overdone Do you have something against southerners, Ms Dixon It seems like you do I love your books, but less stereotyping and such would be awesome.Okay, I m done reading Overall, I loved the book I enjoyed both characters plus the story immensely My rating ignores everything I mentioned about other characters and other books, past and future I won t penalize one book because of others I do hold the short bus comment and stereotyping against it, though I m honestly not easily offended, but really this stuff doesn t belong in books I love the Ice Planet Barbarian world, but insults and bias and stereotyping don t belong in romance books flag 2 likesLike see review View all challenge Will he be able to be something else for the first time in his life or will he be forever a slave to others and that of their wills Will Angie be his or will he lose her to his a ani brother or one of the others I enjoyed the slower pace of this story The little jokes and the misunderstanding of things because, well, things get lost in translation, helped build the relationship between the two It s a sweeter story because pregnant women don t always feel pretty, even on the best of days Vordis is a sweet heart even if he doesn t seem to know what the heck he is doing He does what he idea how she came to have a bun in the oven While I don t think her fellow refugees meant to exclude her from their ranks, her advanced pregnancy has left her somewhat isolated because she can t physically do many of the things the others can do.Which, when you re alone and pregnant with a baby of unknown origin on an alien world surrounded by people you don t know kinda sucks.Vordis, on the other hand, had his brother clone with him, so he s not alone At all In fact, Thrand tends to seek him out because that s what clones do Which leaves Vordis a little irritated because new world, new
