of women face I think it d be a great read for those who are going through those stages if you re a mother with grown children, especially, I think this book will really resonate and be super relatable. That said, it wasn t a book that resonated with me I m only 24, single, wedding bells and babies may be in my future eventually but not any time soon I can tell that in 10 years, I might appreciate this book With where I am personally, I have to say this book unnerved me These essays are about real events not being able to have an insightful conversation with other moms, feeling lonely while living in another country, getting into weird volunteering situations, etc I feel like I m looking into a crystal ball is this what I can expect for my life in 10 years Is this what I ll deal with, too This book was introduced to me as being about a way to find guidance, a book where it says it s ok to do things the wrong way sometimes, that it s ok to question and not know what way is up It was supposed to address big life questions What I found in this book, though, was that I don t want to hear these answers I would rather not hear my fate as a woman in advance And I hate saying that in this review This is genuinely a great book and when I take myself out of the equation, I can think of so many women of the generation before mine that I know who will eat this book up and ask for This isn t their review, though, and I write my reviews based on my personal experience with any given book, for better or worse So, yeah If you re in the intended demographic, highly recommend reading flag Like see review Jan 01, 2019 Karen rated it it was amazing There are times in life when a book comes to you exactly when you need it I d been having a good chat with myself for people, and situations that crossed by path and changed me, but it was long past time to hike a different trail perhaps a moderately rugged one this time, preferably near a lake, yoga studio, or independent bookstoreIn the words of Mary Laura, This is the book when you re feeling like, What the hell am I going to do with my life and you need to know you re not alone A memoir in essays, Mary Laura will inspire you to get on that elliptical machine, look at where you came from, see how you ve outgrown your current situation, and kick some serious ass in the next big adventure But our lives aren t one suspended moment, a single either or choice they re a string of moments, a string of choices The book is Jenny Lawson meets Brene Brown only WAY better It s one of the few that made me actually laugh out loud, but it also made me cry It s about being real and vulnerable You can be some fancy pants lady getting paid to read books in your beautiful home wearing cozy socks, but you also have to deal with medical scares, job loss, bills, and turtles knocking on your door Life is work for everybody and Nobody s path is as linear as it looks in retrospect Please read this, or better yet let s read it together with brie salad sandwiches, carrot cake, and wine flag Like see review Dec 29, 2018 Kaitlyn Vella rated it it was amazing Shelves 2018 Wow.This is one of those books
