We had a lot of fun singing this spooky, Halloween version of Over in the Meadow. The song is really humorous and the illustrations are great. The monsters aren't very scary and the lyrics follow the original tune nicely. We really enjoyed reading (singing) this book together.

Stellar illustrations!

My children really love this book! I have read it to them and them to me serveal times in the last day since purchasing this book. The illustrations are really are and colorful as well. I love how she used family and numbers in the story line, my children caught onto that pattern. Such a good read to put a smile on their faces.

This is a very unique counting book. We have spiders and mummies, owls, vampires, and bats, witches and other monsters. This would have been great for Halloween. It is a very cute book. It is a fun way to teach children to count.

fun little book that could be used for rhyming around halloween time. It can be used in grades pre-k - 1st grade and the students would love to see different themed books throughout the year. This book is very fun for the spooky holiday!

The illustrations in this are gorgeous, the sounds are fun to say, and I like the subtle nod to different families in the way it's not always the "mom" werewolf or the "dad" monster, but sometimes the grandpa vampire or the auntie witch.P.S. The book does count to thirteen, but if you're concerned the book's too long for your audience member(s), it's possible to cut it off to whatever number you'd want to without losing part of the story, which is great.

If you don't do halloween this is NOT for you. But if you dois is more than a counting book as the vivid colors and elaborate illustrations make for hours of conversation with little ones.

Over in the hollow where spiders spin, mummies lurch, werewolves howl and witches zoom things are never dull. Bright and colorful illustrations add a wonderful dimension to the story and kids always want to study every funny detail. The rhymes are funny and lighthearted and are based on old Appalachian poem. A spin on the classic 'Over in the Meadow' this is a creepy version perfect for Halloween. "Over in the hollow, through the creaky graveyard gate, prowl a hairy uncle werewolf/ and his little wolfies eight." Young listeners will enjoy howling and hooting along with the story. The rhythm is close enough to the original to flow; I do wish that the story had a final verse to wrap things up a bit.

An excellently illustrated Halloween story book. There is quite the rhythmic style to this that it will be great for a children to read aloud with call back. "'Howl!'growls the uncle." "'We Howl!' growl the eight." I look forward to including this book in storytime.

A nice book to sing aloud near Halloween time. It doesn't specifically mention the holiday, but implies much with all the characters in the story. I almost feel it may be too long for a preschool group-I shall see!

Fun Halloween counting book with great rhythm and rhyme. I wasn't too excited about the "fours" and explaining some of the gouls to my preschoolers, but I think they'll enjoy it more when they're older.

Halloween counting book with cats, mummies, witches, spiders, vampires, etc. The adult creature tells their kids to say something and the kids answer back. There is hissing and stomping and zooming, etc. Fun read aloud book.

I really enjoy the illustrations and the concept, but like the original Over in the Meadow I get worn out by the eighth page. The language isn't near as fluid either.

Very old-fashioned illustration style which was fun to pour over. I thought the rhyme was continued very well considering the topic must have been hard to work with.
