    1. Having loved I Am Watching You, I was really looking forward to The Friend. I’m pleased to say that I absolutely LOVED it.The Friend had me gripped and intrigued throughout, as I wasn’t sure where the story was going, so eagerly needed to read more to find out. This thought provoking psychological thriller was full of mystery, intrigue, suspense and an impressively manipulative character. Ooh, I do love a good sociopath to keep me on my toes!I really don’t want to go into detail about the [...]

    2. I received a free e-copy of The Friend by Teresa Driscoll from NetGalley for my review. The friend is a phychological thriller. Sophie, the main character, lives in a small village of Tedbury. She meets a new woman in Tedbury who has a son, just like she does. They become friends and the boys get along well with one another. A set of events leads Sophie's son to be injured while under the care of her new friend. Should she have trusted her friend to watch her son? A very fast read with lots of s [...]

    3. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, it's had me banging through it ALL DAY. So imagine that you are stuck on a train, miles from home, your child has been in an accident with his friend - the hospital don't know which is which - the injuries are severe perhaps more for one than the other - what do you do? Well there isn't a lot you CAN do except pray for the train to go faster and reflect on what has brought you hereTherein lies the premise for "The Friend" - a twisty psychological thriller that follow [...]

    5. I adore this author and have loved everything by her. And this book - wow! From the first electrifying, attention grabbing page I was hooked. I could not part with this story. I read it in one sitting, the characters taking root in my head and demanding my full attention. And even now, days later, they haven't let go. I am still thinking of their motivations, the events that led them to do what they did. The writing is exquisite, there are so many wow moments. This author goes from strength to s [...]

    7. I was completely hooked from beginning to end in this fantastic psychological thriller. Full of suspense, I can honestly say I had no idea at all which way the plot would go until the twist was laid out before me. It was definitely one of those 'Noooooo' moments as I finally realised what was going on!Sophie is on a train back from London, desperate to get to the hospital where she has been informed her son and his friend are both in critical condition after an accident. She left Ben in the care [...]

    8. This is the second book I've read by Teresa Driscoll. After really enjoying I Am Watching You, I'm glad The Friend didn't disappoint. A great thriller filled with suspense. The first chapter had me hooked. Imagine your child is in hospital and you're stuck on a train. A terrifying scenario. The chapters go between the present day and the past. A great page turner that I thoroughly enjoyed and I can't wait for her next book. Thank you to Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for the opportunity to re [...]

    9. Sophie is on a train when she is informed her son and his friend have suffered a terrible accident. Whilst frantically waiting for the train to take her back home she relives the moments that have got her to where she is now. Should she have trusted her new friend with her child? The Friend is a psychological thriller mainly told from the perspective of Sophie as she starts her new life in the small village of Tedbury, makes a new friend and raises her son, Ben. The plot is well thought out and t [...]

    10. Emma was like a breath of fresh air in Sophie’s dull, suburban life as a stay-at-home mom. Emma says that she has never really clicked with anyone like she has with Sophie and Sophie knows just exactly what she means. Idle summer jaunts, dinners, plans for a new business – the friends are happy and busy. What’s more, their sons, Ben and Theo, are just a year apart and good friends too. So when Sophie has to go away one night, she leaves Ben with Emma, trusting he would be safe. And then sh [...]

    12. The story really drew me in from the first few chapters, trying to imagine myself in Sophie's position. Knowing your young son is hurt and having to cope with not being there with him. I enjoyed the way this book was laid out, it goes back and forth between the present to flashback chapters to give the backdrop of how they ended up where they are. A real page turner and another book from Teresa Driscoll that I really enjoyed and found hard to put down. I hope to read more of Teresa's work in thi [...]

    13. I couldn't get interested in this book at all. I felt it drawn out and I didn't like the characters, which didn't help. I'm afraid I didn't finish it.

    14. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. While I tried so hard to enjoy this book, I found the constant flicking back and forth quite confusing athough I have never had issues with this style of book in the past. I enjoyed the story as a whole but I did find that it dragged in parts and took a longer way round to get to the conclusion. The main protagonist was constantly making me cringe with her naivety and whilst I hadn't [...]

    15. Another fantastic read from Theresa Driscoll I will definitely be looking out for more by her. Thanks Netgalley for this great ARC

    16. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read The Friend by Teresa Driscoll. I really like I am Watching you, her last novel, and I found this was written very similarly. The plot takes place when Sophie gets bad news while she rides a train - her new friend is at the center of this incident. The story goes back and forth with Sophie and her friend Emma and what leads them to this tragedy.Good book, but the lead character was naive and this drives me crazy.Fast read.
