    1. 4.5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟NOT FOR UNDER 18'sI am indeed having a jolly good timePrologue:London - 1840                       “It’s a boy, Your Grace.”Swearing harshly, he squeezed his eyes shut. The gender shouldn’t have mattered, and yet the pronouncement hit him like a solid blow to the chest.“Have you seen him?” Her head barely moved in a shake. “He’s a bastard. You know what you must do,” she rasped, then turned imploring tear-filled eyes toward [...]

    2. Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books✭ ✭ ✭ 4.5 STARS ✭ ✭ ✭Lorraine Heath's introduction into her new series follows one of her well-loved formulas of unconventional heroes and/or heroines who often have the danger of scandal hanging above them. Even more fascinating is that the author often explores social deficiencies of that time which serves to provide a deeper experience and understanding as to how people lived in Georgian/Regency/Victorian times. The prologue offers a tragic view on [...]

    3. 3.5 starsI received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Mick grew up knowing he was illegitimate and experienced all the society pitfalls because of it. All he has ever wanted is for his father to publicly acknowledge him but when his father refuses, he decides to ruin his half-brother heir. Aslyn has been the Duke of Hedley's ward for most of her life after her parents died. With it understood that she woul [...]

    4. Title: Beyond Scandal and DesireSeries: Sins for All Seasons #1Author: Lorraine HeathRelease date:January 30, 2018Cliffhanger: NoHEA(view spoiler)[Yes (hide spoiler)]She was no longer the means to an end, but had become the end itself. This is my first book by Lorraine Heath, and right out of the starting gate, she landed herself a spot on my auto-read author list. I was so impressed that I'm now on a mission to get through some of her backlist this year, to explore what I've been missing out on. [...]

    5. Lately, I have problems with HR Here they were not big, but I was still annoyed occasionally while reading. What I have problem with is the insta-part, being it insta-lust or love or attraction. I like my MCs to become attracted, yes, but not blindly. There should be some developing, some growth…Here we have a very sheltered heroine, Aslyn, who never ventured beyond the gilded cage here guardians have set for her. I cannot believe that a woman of 21 never had any hint of rebellion, but meekly s [...]

    6. Lorraine Heath kicks off her new Sins for All Seasons series with Beyond Scandal and Desire, the story of a man intent on revenge upon the father who abandoned him and the young woman he intends to use as part of the scheme he has concocted in order to achieve that end.  I’m not a great lover of the heroine-as-instrument-of-revenge trope, but I trust Lorraine Heath to deliver an engaging and emotionally rich story and know that she has the writing chops to turn a hackneyed plotline into so [...]

    7. This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Avon in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Lorraine Heath introduces us to a sensual love affair that takes us back in time to the spicy Victorian Era in London, England. A time of growth in the sciences, politics, and human rights. These two people come together and learn to fight with having all of society against them being togetherHOLY [...]

I fell in love with Mick , He wanted the best for Aslyn!I like them together, and they make me smile a lot!Overall it was a great story , There was so much to love about the story and the characters were lovable!

    9. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.Review to come. Enjoyable read. Great character development, storyline and pacing.

    10. First of a new series, and I always love to try out new series but I might not continue with this one. Beyond Scandal and Desire has a great set-up, but it fell flat for me.In the prologue, we have a  gut wrenching seen as our hero takes his newborn son, born to his mistress, away in the middle of the night to a common woman who for a small payment, who will  raise him in a good home. Or as good enough as she can provide. This woman takes in several children this way, supporting herself with t [...]

    11. This was a most unusual Regency Romance-yes, there's the requisite lady, but her lover isn't a member of the aristocracy-in fact, he is quite literally a bastard, and he's not above using others to get his father to acknowledge him.Lady Aslyn Hastings is betrothed to the son of the Duke who took her in and raised her after she was orphaned-but she feels that there must be something more out there than the tepid interest he takes in her- and definitely more than the life she lives as the sheltere [...]

    12. WOW, Just WOW! Anyone who follows my reviews knows I read A LOT of books, but rarely do I want to cry at the end of book as much I as did this one - not because it was sad, but because it was over! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! Ms. Heath has a way with words, she has the ability to draw a reader in and force them to become invested in her characters - their joy is your joy, their pain is your pain, their troubles become your troubles - it is a rare treat to find an author who has this talent [...]

    13. This was a plain offer from Lorraine Heath. Lorraine Heath's new series centers around a group of by-blows. This is a very similar setting to her famous series of the Scoundrels of St. James. The first book is about the oldest brother of this group, Mick Trewlove, who was given away as a newborn baby by his father, who thought Mick was going to meet a certain demise, because this was what happened when you "farmed out a baby" back then. The reason of him doing so was revealed later in the book, [...]

    14. Beyond Scandal and Desire kicks off a new series from Lorraine Heath, Sins for All Seasons, featuring a family of unwanted by-blows sent off to a baby farmer as infants. I love that Lorraine has taken this sad and tragic historical detail and given it a lighter spin, while staying true to the life that faced bastards and the lower classes of the day.Historically and most notoriously in the Victorian era, baby farmers would accept custody of unwanted children, usually by-blows, in exchange for a [...]

    15. The first in a new series (Sins for all Seasons) by veteran historical romance writer Lorraine Heath reminds me a lot of her earlier series Scoundrels of St James. Apparently born on the "wrong side of the blanket", successful business man Mick Trewlove has a vendetta against his aristocrat father who left him with a notorious baby farmer specialising in callously getting rid of the evidence so to speak! Luckily for Mick the widow down on her luck had a pang of conscience and raised the unfortun [...]

    16. I love reading a romance that completely sweeps me away. And when that romance is by a new to me author, it’s even better because then I know there’s a whole new world of stories out there for me to get lost in. I was especially excited to realize Lorraine Heath’s Beyond Scandal and Desire is the first in a new series. I fell in love with Mick and Aslyn, two people who thought they knew what would bring them happiness in life, but realized none of it mattered without each other. I was so [...]

    17. An amazing start to a new series by Lorraine. This is a story that shows the class differences in England in the 1900's especially the way bastard children were treated. There was a sharp divide between the rich and the poor. If you were born into the Aristocracy you never mixed with the middle or poor classes. What could a man born on the wrong side of the blanket and a young lady who was raised by a Duke and Duchess be to each other?Mick Trewlove is a bastard who has worked his whole life towa [...]

    18. Deliver me from revenge plots! I usually find them unpleasant and unbelievable. In the capable hands of Lorraine Heath, however, Mick Trewlove's desire for revenge against his noble father becomes a moving story of love and courage, leading not only to his redemption but also the deliverance of those who have wronged him. Mick is the bastard son of the Duke of Hedley, given away at birth to a “baby farmer.” (This was the dreadful practice of impoverished women taking in by-blows for money an [...]

    19. “She loved him. It was that simple, that complex. Their road would not be an easy one, but all the same she wanted to travel it.”3.5 starsBeyond Scandal and Desire marked my first time reading a full length Lorraine Heath book and it contained A LOT of tropes I often despise: revenge plot, deceitful hero, heroine is engaged to someone else, etc. And yet, every time I put the book down, I couldn’t wait to pick it back up again. There was even a day I had to go without because I had a migrai [...]

    20. Beyond Scandal and Desire was a charming romance between a heroine longing for more in life and the hero who is determined to show her everything.Mick Trewlove has grown up knowing he is the bastard son of the Duke of Hedley, but he never let that stop him from accomplishing everything he set his mind to, gaining immense wealth in the process. However, Mick wants revenge for being abandoned and is determined his father will acknowledge him. His plan is simple, destroy his father's legitimate hei [...]

    21. 2.5His standing in life never stopped Mick Trewlove from being a confident man and getting what he wants. First, it was to provide for his family (adoptive mother and adoptive siblings) and then to prove that being born on the wrong side of the blanket doesn't make him less significant. So he became a successful hotel owner. But achievement is not enough for Mick. He's determined to make his sire, the man who abandoned him to a widow when he was born, acknowleddge him. And if it means ruin the r [...]

    22. One of the January 2018 releases I was looking forward to the most was Beyond Scandal and Desire. I’ve been known to say that my true two passions in Historical Romance are illegitimate & businessman heroes. Beyond Scandal and Desire, of course, had both wrapped up into one. Because of that, I thought Beyond Scandal and Desire would be a winner. It was in one way, but fell short in another.I’m a big fan of setting and side characters in Romance. Recently, I’ve found that I need there t [...]

    23. What a fantastic beginning to a new series! I always dread picking up a Lorraine Health novel. That might sound bad, but it's not. I dread it a little bit because I know that she has the power to make me feel and at some point in her books I'll cry, rage, and be blissfully happy. This story of Mick Trewlove seeking revenge and acknowledgement from his father is full of surprises. Mick and Aslyn have so much chemistry. Seeing Mick fall for Aslyn when that's not his plan at ALL is priceless. Aslyn [...]

    24. 3.5 Stars!Lorraine Heath's new book is a prelude to a complete series of Trewlove siblings. It starts off with Mick Trewlove, a bastard son of a Duke given away to a widow at his birth. Now a well established business tycoon, he is ready to give the world to his adopted family. Mainly his younger sister. To give her a London season and a chance at a better marriage, he has to enter into the labyrinth of London aristocracy. And for that he requires an acknowledgement from his father, the Duke of H [...]

    25. I am a very big fan of well written, smart, sexy historical romance. And Beyond Scandal and Desire is just that! I was drawn into the world of the aristocracy, heirs, and the moral dilemma of an illegitimate babe and truly enjoyed my time with Mick and Aslyn. However, it felt as if the first half of the book dragged a bit, seemingly repetitive and it only disconnected the romance between Aslyn and Mick for me. But the ending. Wow, I loved the ending. Especially that very late twist. The ending m [...]

    26. Another Heath book I felt was lacking. I say this because I know she can put a lot more emotion into her characters. This time around I had some trouble with the relationship dynamic between Aslyn, Mick and what's-his-name. Also, I didn't like how Mick's past was dealt with. It wasn't fair to him and it made me hate the duke and the duchess.

    27. 3.5 Cocktails I liked the premise of this one, but the story dragged a bit. Mick and Aslyn’s romance was fun and flirty, but his birthright seemed to drag the story down rather than give angst.
