    1. I was really excited when I learned about these illustrated guides. I thought they would be more like graphic novels? This one seemed like it was written in words first, and then the illustrator was expected to take some quotes and make them into illustrations. Unfortunately most of the illustrations were just a mason guy with a speech bubble. Come on! There were a few good illustrations of symbols and masonic aprons. I also didn't like how there were a bunch of Albert Einstein quotes that were [...]

    2. My maternal grandfather was a Freemason in the UK and so this has always interested me. Freemasonry does get a lot of bad press, as does my faith (member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as Mormons). This book is written by a Mason and explains in very simple terms what freemasonry really is. Freemasonry is a life philosophy, just like the gospel of Jesus Christ (taught in Mormonism). I found this book very positive and informative. The cartoons integrate very well with [...]

    3. Lots of history, very forthcoming, but a tad too many spoilers. This was a very enjoyable introduction to freemasonry. The stuff with the exiled Prince was a bit hard to follow, but it was really interesting seeing how the UGLE came about. As a non-mason there were a couple of spoilers, mostly around the initiation ritual.

    4. Won this book through a giveaway.Found this book very informative. Written simply and clearly. Gave an overview of the Masonic history, their goals and some of the famous members and their impact on world history. After reading this book, I think that the world would be a better place if we had more Masons in it.

    5. This being the first book in the "for Beginner" series of books that I have read, I read with no preconceived expectations. The format was what I would have expected for an introductory book on any any subject. I liked the way it was presented and also liked the minimalist illustrations that were used throughout the book. My only real complaint was it read as more of a propaganda book on Freemasons than a informative publication. I believe it would have been better if it has been written by some [...]

    6. Disclaimer: I received this book for free through a giveaway.Freemasonry for Beginners by Robert Lomas, with illustrations by Sarah Becan, is part of the "For Beginners Documentary Comic Book" series (of which I was previously unaware). This book provides a swift but broad introduction to Freemasonry, discussing its beliefs, organization, symbols, history, and other information. The book was fine, I guess. I didn't have much knowledge about Freemasons going in, so I found the book informative, [...]
