    1. 4.5 starsI love these novels. They are graphic, filled with heart stopping action, and never fail to make me excited about reading again. Mr. Bonansinga wrote the characters as believable types, flawed, brave, evil, crazy and just plain rotten. This is horror, yes, gore and guts but there is so much more. There is a well developed world filled with all the pitfalls you'd expect after such a devastating event. This book revolved around one of the least likely survivors, a small woman with the hear [...]

    2. I'm pretty ticked now because I was in the middle of writing a very thorough review of this book when I accidentally clicked away from the page and the whole thing got deleted. If allowed half-star ratings, I would've given this book a 2.5 out of 5. Let me just say that this book was my least favorite in the series. The pacing felt off from beginning to end, the continuity was completely nonexistent, and there really wasn't much of a significant plot. Everything just felt so forced and there we [...]

    3. I have loved all the books in the Walking Dead series. As a huge Walking Dead fan, I love anything that continues our story lines. BUT, I disliked this book from the start. First, I found the use of adjectives and descriptors to be superfluous, as if he was just meeting a word requirement in a school essay. I have always loved Lily's spunk and leadership of the community, but the author has her being reckless, unprepared and taking uncalculated risks that are not reminiscent of the Lily from the [...]

    4. No apologies. I like zombie stories. And nobody writes 'em better than Jay Bonansinga. If F. Scott Fitzgerald is to writing what Mozart is to music, then Bonasinga is Kurt Cobain. It's OK to like both – or all four, depending on how you're keeping score. If you limit variety during your life, guess what? You don't get to go back and do it over when you're done.If you happen to be into audio books, you get the bonus of a literary/narration match made in heaven. I have little doubt that when Fre [...]

    5. This was my least favorite book of the series it dragged on and was pointless. I really hope the next one will be more like the previous books

    6. I think it's time to take this series in a new direction. Lily isn't that good of a leader, but we're kinda forced to stay with her book after book simply because she "doesn't quit". Plus, the writer's style is starting to come off of really pretentious, like he's trying to fill up space, and he's kinda starting to become a bargain basement Stephen King.

    7. This is the seventh book in a series of Walking Dead novels which follow the character of Lilly Caul as she tries to survive in the walker-infested post-apocalypse world. This perhaps works as a standalone novel better than most of the others. Lilly and her companions return home to Woodbury after a day working on the rail line to discover the town in ruins, many of its citizens dead and the children missing. A furious Lilly sets off to bring the children back and punish those responsible, accom [...]

    8. I really love this whole series, but so far this book has been my least favorite. There were quite a few things throughout the book that had me irked, such as how it feels like nearly everyone died (and the horses), but was really shocked at the end when Lilly said "no one went back for David?!?" Even I couldn't believe it. I think Lilly is an amazing leader in all the books, but for someone who has been so good at keeping her emotions at bay to get through difficult situations, she sure rushed [...]

    9. More like 3 and a half out of 5 starsNALLY!!!! Finally this series has got interesting again. The last couple were a struggle to get through. Whereas this one started a bit slow, then BAM! it was all action. I was worried that reading this book wasn't going to be worth the time and effort because the first chapter is pretty much the same thing/idea that is happening on the show and happens in comic series.

    10. I loved book 1 & 2. 3 & 4 were a little disappointing because the story was needlessly split into 2 books that were short and expensive. I read 5-7 out of loyalty to The Walking Dead. I love the zombie genre, but these last few books are just so boring. There is barely a story line, just one battle after another getting nowhere that really interests me. I'll keep reading them in hopes that we meet Rick's group again.

    11. This was the first book in the novel set I have read and turned out to be a bit disappointed with the reason the children were kidnapped. Let's just say the author had a good opportunity to take the plague of walkers crisis to another level with why the kids were taken but shot himself in the head instead. It ended well with all the loose strings neatly tied up.

    12. This is a novel based on the TV series _The Walking Dead_. If you really like zombies, you might like this book. At least it has interesting characters.I did not that they are always escaping from the zombies just in time. It's as if the zombies come up to the heroes, and then just stand around and wait so they take take a swipe at the heroes as they make their escape.

    13. I liked this book it was very interesting and short and a fun quick read. If you are looking for a book that is quick and is also interesting read this book. I did not read the other books behind it but that is the cool part even though it is a series you don't have to read the series to understand what is going on.

    14. This is the 7th in the series and I've read the previous books but I just couldn't get through this. The writing was never all that great to begin with but the story lines usually kept me reading. This time the combination of so-so writing, awkward dialogue and annoying characters caused me to give up within the first 50 pages.

    15. This is really more of a 2.5. I have read this entire series. I really liked the Road to Woodbury and the Rise and Fall of the Governor books (first 4), but since then, something has been missing and they seem more like product. Oh well!! I finished the book, but it took some effort.

    16. Enjoyed this new book of the Lilly series. Weird experiments, fantastic escapes and detailed zombie attacks.

    17. Same old same old.Too many descriptors for pretty tame settings. I didn't feel any stakes throughout the book unfortunately.

    18. One of the main things that bugged me about the seventh "Robert Kirkman's 'The Walking Dead' " novel--"Search and Destroy" by Jay Bonansinga--is that the author really seems to love one word that (for some reason) annoys the bejeezus out of me. That word isspoor. He uses it four or five times in the first 50 pages. Each time I was distracted and jarred out of the story. It's one of those words that, to me, calls attention to itself as pretentious and out of place. Definitely a word you'd use onc [...]

    19. Bonansinga could've developed the story a bit further and should've. Introduce new characters and not develop them much? I don't like that. This story had the potential to be great but fell short. While it had many downsides, I still really liked it.

    20. Better than the last book, but still disjointed and I'm sick of Lilly Caul. Since last seen fighting off the crazed preacher once and for all, now Lilly is still leader of Woodbury (though once again she hates being leader, while the one making all the plans), and has set up friendly alliance with several other small towns (why don't they just merge with one of the other towns if she hates being leader so much). Thankfully, no romance in this one, although she's super maternal, so after a busy d [...]

    21. This book continues the saga of Lilly Caul - a young woman who has spent the last four years surviving the zombie apocalypse. It has taken everything she has to make it through; she is now the leader of Woodbury and trying to rebuild lines of communication between towns, and more importantly, among friends and enemies and strangers. There is no one more brutal during the plague years than humans; Lily learns this all over again when the children of Woodbury are kidnapped and more people she knows [...]

    22. Face it, at this point in the book series we know what we are getting ourselves into. Lily and the gang from Woodbury face a challenge that will lead to the death of several characters introduced in this or prior volumes. As in the Walking Dead graphic novels, the zombies are a danger, but the biggest danger is other humans. Having missed out on #6 in the series, all of the non-Woodbury characters were new to me, but this did not seem like a handicap. Especially with how quickly several of them [...]

    23. As a spin-off series of the Walking Dead, it's been pretty much an exercise in mediocrity. This installment, however, is the best so far. There's nothing new here, but you can listen (I borrowed the audio version from my local public library) to the story and not be overly concerned with what happened previously. The characters also seem better rendered than usual. In short, while there's nothing innovative here, it does make for a pleasant diversion.

    24. Tableau how many times does this author need to use this word? Once or twice would've been find but I kept finding myself annoyed because he used it around 10 it seemed. Sort of distracting at times for me. However, I loved this book. it felt like this could be the end of the series a few times but there is more to come. Lots of page turning situations that keep you wondering how the heck they'll get out of it this time this group got themselves into a lot of sticky situations on their mission t [...]
