    1. That ending was crazyyyyy! I can't believe Soma did that. Like what the hell was he thinking?!? There's no way I can't immediately dive in the next volume with an ending like that. This manga just keeps getting better and better and while I have a tendency to say that with every volume. It is clear that it has been well researched and well planned and thought out. At first I thought the challenges were getting kind of old but the stakes at which the challenges are taking place are crazy. I just [...]

    2. Another amazing volume of Food Wars! I honestly expected nothing less from this series. I can't really get into the details but the last volume ended at the beginning of another shokugeki to determine the fate of one of the school research societies, and this volume picks up right where it left off. We learn the reason behind this particular battle since it isn't the normal reason why basically all the clubs competed. As always, the members of Central underestimate this group of first years and [...]

    3. I think Ryo is actually my favorite, so this volume made me happy (although, I agree Lara - too many foodgasms! Especially with the young, innocent looking characters. :/) I'm excited to see where Soma's next shokugeki goes!

    4. The volumes seem to be getting shorter, is it just me? Or is it because there haven't been any side stories or recipes that take up the extra pages? The showdown between Ryo and Central lackey Rentaro was fascinating. Not only were both of their salmon dishes delicious-sounding, we also learned a lot of interesting information about their dishes. Rentaro's saumon confit flamme with savory salmon ice cream was on the cutting edge, contrasted wtih Ryo's salmon coulibiac, which is a centuries-old di [...]

    5. A much needed reprieve fromMemories of Ice. I'm actually really enjoying that book, but it has not been easy to read in the midst of exhaustion and brain fog--there are a million characters and the thing weighs a million pounds. This is much more my level right now--thank you, Tsukada! Aaaaanyway, this volume has some really great Kurokiba moments--I kind of love him a lot. And naturally Yukihira gets himself into yet another shokogeki with really high stakes that will (at least begin to) play o [...]

    6. Azami's Central has begun it's systematic mop up of the small rebellion Soma incited. And up next is Kurokiba battling for the sake of Alice's Cutting-Edge Cooking Society. And so Alice can stick it to her Uncle Azami. But something BIG comes at the end of this volume. I mean story altering BIG. And the only bit I'm going to give you is that my immediate reaction was "SOMA NO!" and the book said "SOMA YES!" And no matter how much I run the scenario through my head, the outcome is always a nightma [...]

    7. Ryo faces off against one of the Central people to save his mentor's society.I enjoyed this arc but I'm still struggling with a bit too much food description and a bit too little character development. Soma is (as usual) getting ready to jump into a massive shokugeki challenge against the First seat. Looking forward to that one!And the cheesy food porn has returned this volume - best line (with a salmon dish) "Any more of this aquatic assault and I won't be able to avoid the riptide!"

    8. Whoaere sure was a lot done in this volume. If I wanted to be a real cook, I would definitely have to try some of the things they cook in herence I don't though, it gets a little tedious. I'm really surprised by where this one ended, I thought it would have been sooner but I'm eager to see how this plays out.

    9. This was amazing! I'm so proud of ryo!!! I'm really happy that erina and alice are becoming closer!and im really nervous about soma's pseudo-shokugeki next volume! But I did buy vol 20 as well.Just gotta do calculus and my piano lesson first, haha!

    10. A fine entry focusing mostly on the side characters. But I'm here for Soma, and the book doesn't really catch fire until the last chapter sets up his next shokugeki. I'm worried that even Soma can't save this series from the dreadful storyline where the new dean is a ham-fisted villain.

    11. Perfect Just perfect!I chose this rating because it kept me entertained and just so much action you could say. This is DragonBall of Food wars! Definitely buying the next one right now.

    12. I was just starting to like this series again. Then, the last chapter happened. Now it makes no freaking sense again. Argh, is this story arc over yet?

    13. Loved the Kurokiba battle, though some of the heating explanations were a little too much. But the upcoming Tsukasa/Yukihira battle looks good. He just made it personal.

    14. ~4/5We get to see the end of the Kurokiba and council member shokugeki. It's filled with a lot of salmon-cooking information that I just did not need in my life. But it also ends in a very deserving win. I did like seeing how all of the characters interact with each other, as well. After that, we get a confrontation between Erina's awful father and Alice. It gives a surprising insight into what happened between Alice and Erina when they were little, and I completely understand Alice's stance on e [...]

    15. The purge match was boring. I was thinking of dropping the series. But at the last moment, the volume kept me from abandoning it by throwing in the match between Yukihira and Tsukasa the 1st seat of central. Still I am highly doubtful to continue reading it, cause the series is getting too formulaic.

    16. chyneyee/food-wars-vol-19-What I loved about this volume is the admiration from the opponent for Soma’s skill which leads to the invitation to ask Soma to join the Central. Also, at least there is a slight twist for the battle with the Central in this volume and unpredictable twist makes the story more interesting.
