    1. I have become OBSESSED with Christmas uncharacteristically early this year. I've already been watching cheesy Christmas movies and wanted to read a Christmas-y book. This delivered! It had everything I wanted a snowy lodge, ice skating, hot chocolate, bonfires, cutting down a Christmas tree, romance, a strong female heroine, and of course a sexy Santa. It was a very quick read for me which was perfect. Definitely a predictable storyline, but it was light and fluffy.

    2. 1/1 - First book of the year and it was a success!! I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this. If it hadn't ended at 91% it might have even received a five, but thinking I still had 15 minutes of reading left, only to find I had no minutes left kind of annoyed me. The book was too short, but only because I was enjoying the story, not because anything was missing. For a Kindle freebie this was surprisingly well edited, I only picked up on one mistake - a missing space between two words (see author [...]

    3. There are few books that can get me into the Christmas mood. I am just not a fan of the holiday. Unexpected Gifts, however, made me yearn for the holiday. It was sweet, cute and heart-warming. I completely fell for it.The romance and the characters were really what make this story. I loved that the protagonists had a strong friendship before they turned it into something more. I also completely adored Colin. Not only did he sound ridiculously hot and funny and charming and all that but he was sh [...]

    4. Original review found at kristineandterri/2I downloaded this story off of in my quest for Christmas reads to profile during the month of December.Let me start by explaining what I was looking for in a Christmas read. I wanted a story that what centralized around the season and not just a story that put Christmas in the title just because it occurred during the month of December. This story delivered just that.I was swept away in the story from the beginning through the beautiful scenery of the [...]

    5. I loved this holiday romance. It was feel-good fun at its absolute best! This was a sweet story with a little bit of conflict, some insta-love that actually worked, and one huge great big dick-head of an ex, and I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed every second of this book and now I can't wait for snow and ice, blizzards and bright, clear nights. Oh yes, and the big day itself!I want to go ice-skating and dress up and eat delicious food and drink hot chocolate. But boy, do I not want to ever meet s [...]

    6. I really enjoyed this book. It was another great holiday read. I liked both the main characters and I'm glad that they were able to have this great trip. It's exactly what they both needed. I just hope the characters in the other books are as awesome as these two.

    7. Reviewed for herding cats & burning soupThe Story:Unexpected Gifts was a cute little Christmas read. An unexpected connection with an old acquaintance. Healing, finding the Christmas spirit, love and happiness. I enjoyed the story as Andi--who is hiding out from Christmas festivities--and Colin--who wants to embrace the season with verve--are thrown together and have a whirlwind wintery romance at a mountain resort. It was sweet and even though the romance moved quickly it was fun and the ch [...]

    8. This is a fairly predictable Christmas story: heavy on the fluff and of a course, a dash of insta-love thrown in for good measure. The story was decent until about 3/4 of the way through. Have you ever read something that's kind of ridiculous but you excuse it until it gets more ridiculous and then you start thinking back on all that you excused and realize there's just no excuse for it? That's how I felt reading the last 3-4 chapters. Andi plans to spend Christmas grumpy and alone but unfortuna [...]

    9. This short novella is the first book in Elena Aitken's Castle Mountain Lodge series. Set in the Canadian Rockies, Andi Williams hates Christmas and is persuaded to go to Castle Mountain Lodge to relax and forget about Christmas. Only when she arrives she finds the place is fully booked and no sign of her reservation. Colin Hartford comes to the rescue and offers to let her stay in his villa. They aren't complete strangers. Colin grew up and was friends, at one time, with the man Andi was engaged [...]

    10. I loved this story! It was cute and Christmassy! Colin's mom was right. Love will find the right person you are to be with. Andi & Colin both coming from bad relationships. One looking for Christmas and the other running from Christmas. I read this in June in Alabama. It was 90 yesterday! Christmas stories in June are a great way to "cool" off!I also loved the Ball theme! Too cute! It would be fun to follow these two girls with a series of "party" stories.

    11. Cute, light, fluffy Christmas shortie. I am a bit confused at the number of people who said the book was predictable. I mean it's a romance novel. it's not like the hero is going to get eaten by a yeti or something

    12. I know I actually read this Christmas-story a month too late. But that doesn't matter. It is a really nice, winterly, love story. Which just happens to take place during Christmas.

    13. Andi hasn't had the best year, from the ending of a long-term relationship to the tragedy that she went through, that changed her life so very much. Now, with Christmas around the corner she is only just starting to feel like herself again, her plans with her family fall through at the last minute leaving her no plans for Christmas. So, when her best friend and business partner suggests taking up the offer of the invitation they received to the Castle Mountain Lodge but upon arriving it turns out [...]

    14. Unexpected Gifts by Elena Aitken is a sweet, hearfelt romance about how love can find you in the most unexpected places. After getting left by her boyfriend when she needed him the most, Andi Williams just wants to forget about Christmas. Even her family has other plans that she was not included in. So, instead of watching everyone else's holiday cheer, she decides to go away for the holiday. However, the place is booked and she ends up meeting Colin, a guy who will changer her life in more ways [...]

    15. Andi doesn't like Christmas and decides to take the offer or a free night at the Castle Mountain Lodge that her company was offered. Upon arrival the weather is cold and very snowy and she finds herself really with no room! Colin LOVES Christmas and decides on spending the holiday at the Lodge to enjoy all the Christmas activities it has to offer. When he arrives he sees a woman that he has met only once but finds himself drawn to and ends up offering to share his villa with her. Colin wants to [...]

    16. I'm don't usually give Christmas romance novels a chance because I am a bit afraid that they're all much the same. However, I'm really glad that I didn't miss out on reading this one when it was offered as a free download at .Elena Aitken really has a way of creating credible characters in situations full of conflict potential as well as love potential. There are a lot of things I loved about this novel: the setting of the Lodge, the heroine's and hero's background, and the way Christmas was use [...]

    17. Super sweet clean romance. Andi has had a bad year and when she's faced with Christmas and everything it was supposed to be she runs. Too much pain, too much loss and heartache drew my sympathy. Colin is the antithesis of all of that. I enjoyed his determination to change her mind and get her to really enjoy Christmas with him. They have a few obstacles to work through but it has a satisfying ending. The author has a spicier version of this series if you prefer a bit of heat in your stories. All r [...]

    18. Karia’s quick thoughts on this quickie:1. Great setting and I hope to read more from this Castle Mountain Lodge2. Sexy and somewhat mysterious Colin Hartford…yes, he is loaded, but that doesn’t get in the way!3. Fun and flirty Andi…finally finds some love of her own!4. Good friend banter5. Sweet meet cute that turns into a holiday planners resume that turns into love!Check it out!

    19. This was a free book, titled Unexpected Kisses, and is the steamy version and start of what sounds like a good series. Andi had suffered loss (stillbirth) and a harsh break up and really wasn't looking forward to the holidays until she met an old acquaintance, lovable Colin, at a freebie mountain lodge invitation through her party planning business. I liked the winter story, ice skating, hot tub, outdoor fires and budding romance! Fun, short read for the holidays!

    20. This book was another good fluff read. The book is the first book of a developing series about a Canadian hotel/resort. The book concerns one character's attempt to avoid Christmas by secluding herself in a hotel. The author's forte is her descriptive writing which enables the reader to smell the hot chocolate, feel the cold air, and see the Christmas lights.

    21. I LOVED this book it's the perfect story for the holidays, with all the right ingredients - snow, mountains, skating, log fires and, of course romance! The story drew me in from the very first chapter - I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended as a great gift, or as a Christmas treat for yourself!

    22. A very sweet story! This was just what I wanted right now: a light, sweet, holiday romance to help me get into the spirit of the season. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. With a magical setting, likable characters and a cute story line, I was looking forward to my (limited) free time so I could pick this up and get lost in it. And to top it off, it was free!

    23. I thought this was a very cute, quick holiday read. Since the holidays are busy and stressful enough this was a very lighthearted sweet story to read. The characters were likable and the story was sweet.

    24. A fun quick read that will put a smile on your face. One woman who wants nothing to do with Christmas and one man who is looking to recapture the feeling of Christmas plus one mix up in reservations leads to one great story. Recommended for all.

    25. Awesome Christmas romance, good story, like the author's writing style. Loved the characterswell done Would read more from this author Got this for free during the holidays but would have paid for it

    26. Status: On my future to be read (TBR) shelf.Sensuality content: Subtle sensuality. Reviewers say strictly kisses only, no sex on or off page, but hero has sexual desire/feelings for heroine thus some sexual innuendo thoughts related.

    27. What a wonderful story to start the holiday season off. The characters were so fun & endearing to read about. The storyline was believable & such an enjoyable way to spend the day cuddled under the covers with a hot drink. Loved it!!!

    28. I always like to read seasonal romance, especially close to Christmas but this book surprised me. It was so romantic and cute. Just what I needed to bring a smile to my face. Short and sweet is definitely what you'll find with this one. Loved it.
