    1. Apparently YOU need a lot of supplements! My goodness. I was hoping to learn a little about the human body from this book. I did learn a few things, but primarily I learned that if I want my "Real Age" to be a certain SPECIFIC number of years younger then I need to take a certain SPECIFIC amount of A LOT of supplements. I was waiting to hear what web site I go to to buy the "YOU" supplement package because they really seemed to be pushing them hard. I'm not saying supplements don't have benefits [...]

    2. This is a handy manual containing a potpourri of all sorts of information about the human body and its various systems and organs with the latest advice about how to keep them all healthy. Drs. Roizen and Oz write with the same down-to-earth style and whimsical sense of humor that each shows on his various TV appearances. The book has two quizzes--one with 50 multiple-choice questions about the body in general and the other with questions that help challenge the human brain and ward off senility [...]

    3. There are countless self-help books ranging from diet, exercise, psychology, and the like. One of the authors has really taken advantage of this new found fame, Dr. Oz, and leads me to some skepticism regarding future pronouncements. Yet, most of the advice and info in this book originates from sound, proven scientific data. Most of the data herein is the culmination of hard evidence based on theory, model and proven in labs, and the anecdotal experience by two of the nations foremost physicians [...]

    4. Loy Machedo’s Book Review – YOU. The Owner’s Manual by Michael F. Roizen & Mehmet C. Oz.I am old.35 years old. Ever since I crossed the 30 year mark, I have become pretty obsessed and cautious about my health. For reasons that I cannot explain, I have been on a quest to understand what I can do to keep myself fit and healthy. Where once upon a time I used to leg press over 300 kgs and dead-lift (for my back) over 200 kgs, today I am pretty happy with a 15 minute light jog on the treadm [...]

    5. I wish I would have learned biology or health with this book in high school. It makes the body so easy to understand. It reads as more of a reference book and I'll keep it around as such. For example, I had a sore throat recently and I remembered trying a salt water gargle in the past with little success. I looked it up in the book and I realized the only quick fix to feel better was a salt water gargle with warm water a certain number of times a day. It worked! It's also made me stick with takin [...]

    6. "You: The Owner's Manual" contains some genuinely helpful information but personally, I would consider that statement as damning by faint praise. It's a health book written by a host of doctors, the least it can do is contain some helpful nuggets of information. As is, the book is weak. You can tell by reading it that the authors were seeking to really fulfill the needs of the elderly, older-than-fifty set but decided to attempt to broaden the book's appeal in order to try to pull in money from [...]

    7. A very readable introduction to the systems of the body and how to take care of yours and increase your health and reduce aging processes. Includes a healthy dose of humor and many suggestions for diet and dietary supplements, as well as a recipe section and a crib sheet on exercise. This would be a good introduction for folks on how the different systems of their bodies work – especially people who are confused by medical jargon. This is easy to understand and fluidly written. HOWEVER, there [...]

    8. This book gave a good overview of your body and the things that you can do to make your "real age" younger. Things like smoking take off years from your life, while eating healthy and exercising can add years. Overall a good explanation of the different systems in your body and how to keep them working properly.

    9. I was hoping for something a little more in-depth, but as I read it, I felt like I was being talked down to. I'm not certain what I was expecting, but give me more than a 6th-grade reading level and bizarre illustrations

    10. It was interesting to read so much about the human body. I thought it would be boring or long and drawn out but it was very clearly written and fun to learn so many great things and how complex and miraculous our bodies are.

    11. Be forewarned, by reading this amazing book, you will want to change the way you live. Even we transplant patients who carefully follow our doctor’s orders will find additional “best practices” that will add to both length of years lived as well as improving overall quality of that daily living. The underlying theme of this “manual” is to improve your life by understanding risk factors that impact how well and how long we live. Noted heart transplant surgeon, Mehmet Oz, MD along with Mi [...]

    12. I liked this book. A bunch of information on how all of your systems work together and the little changes you can make to help your body live longer. Most of it is commonsense but there were a few nuggets of information that I really liked. Exercise (and not even that much) can make a huge difference. Diet is becoming one of the biggest factors. In my limited understanding, nutrition is a science that is grossly misunderstood. We were all taught things as recent as a few years ago and they turn [...]

    13. This book is very easy for normal people like me to understand. We can change our life by changing a little bit of our habit everyday. The only problem is that this book always recommends people to use supplement. I think about 1/3 of the total recommendations. This issue makes me be doubtful of the credibility.Anyway, still very good!

    14. This book was really insightful and entertaining at the same time. Back when Dr. Oz was not all over the place🦃

    15. This book contained a good, overall picture of the human body. I was hoping for more specific information, and I was not expecting the doctors to recommend taking so many supplements.

    16. Meh, this was just OK. If you are an absolute beginner in the better health world, then this will help you. Otherwise, skip it and read more advanced information.

    17. Suggestions they give:For heart and arteries: Eat at least one handful of nuts a day (walnuts are highest in omega-3 fatty acids). Eat at least three portions of fish per week (especially wild, line-caught salmon (incl. canned), and cod/bass, also tilapia, catfish). Get 31 mg of flavonoids/day (found in nuts, tea, red wine, grapes, cranberries, 100% natural orange juice, onions, tomatoes, tomato juice (2 1/2 glasses of cranberry juice or several cups of tea work)). Aspirin (1/2 aspirin/day). The [...]

    18. *&^#*&%$*!!! What did I push? My review was like, done, and I hit a bad key and everything reverted back to my old review that was written here, before I read the book. HOW DO I UNDO IT WHEN I SCREW SOMETHING UP LIKE THAT? Maybe I'm just on edge. I have a 5 year old and 3 year old here on my couch, and every three seconds they ask me a question like, "What kind of food does your cat eat?" or "Do you know how to tie knots?" It made it very hard to focus enough to write anything coherently [...]

    19. It's odd that we have no innate knowledge of how the body operates. It seems intuitive that we should know all about ourselves, and it's almost contradictory that we don't. This book is a wonderful reminder of the fascinating complexity that--unconsciously, in most of us--happens in our bodies every moment of every day. The book provides a friendly introduction to the workings of our major systems--circulatory, nervous, respiratory, digestive, reproductive, lymphatic, endocrine, and more. Better [...]

    20. A Review of You: The Owner's Manual: An Insider's Guide to the Body That Will Make You Healthier and Younger by Michael F. Roizen & Mehmet C. Oz ("Dr. Oz")Rating: Two StarsEdition: Hardback Genre: Health & WellnessI used to really like Dr. Oz and watched him quite a lot, but over the years that opinion has drastically changed. I'm not going to get into the "why," but it has changed my opinion about this book quite a bit. This book goes through each part of the body and how each works. Som [...]

    21. I listened to the audio of this book, and I was getting frustrated because there were so many milligrams, micrograms, and international units of this or that mineral or vitamin or acids that I should take on a daily or weekly basis, that I should be noting down - but, being on the move listening on the go to this audiobook, I couldn't very well easily do so. So I felt the nuggets of golden secrets to lasting health slipping away from my grasp one after the other as I heard them come one after th [...]

    22. As much as this book annoyed me, I think it is a decent read and reference point for certain audiences. The author tried too hard to be funny. The forced humor and obscure metaphors, with few exceptions, were out of place and detracted from the overall quality and content of the book.Serious consideration should be taken when identifying an audio book's narrator. This audio book had two narrators; one with a mild speech impediment. While I have nothing against people with speech problems, it is d [...]

    23. I first read this book when it originally came out - before Dr. Oz got so wonky, trendy, and sold out. It was updated in 2013. It covers your body system-by-system: Heart; Brain and Nervous System; Bones, Joints, and Muscles; Lungs; Digestive System; Liver and Pancreas; Sex; Sensory Organs; Immune System; Hormones. It also covers cancer information, diet and recipes, and exercise. Each chapter has suggestions for supplements, foods to eat or avoid, and lifestyle ideas for maintaining each system [...]

    24. I FINALLY finished this book. I read most of it pretty quickly, and then I just got bored and took a million years on the last chapter. This is a pretty good basic general health book. So basically, if you don't know much, then this would be a good reference book. I do like that there is a plan that they include of living a healthy lifestyle and they even include recipes. I haven't tried any of them, but maybe someday I will. One thing that really annoys me about this book is that they try to be [...]

    25. What an amazing book! So easy to read and the way it was divided allowed for me to pick it up and just read a few sections at a timeI want to read it again :)Here's my Three Sentence Book Summary:Where to start about the awesome-ness that is You: The Owner’s Manual…this book is the perfect combination of comedy and scientific accuracy that allows the reader to understand so much about the different components of the human body and how it works. With easy-to-understand language and great, rea [...]

    26. "Beautiful bodies sell magazines, tattooed bodies attract gawkers, trained bodies, well trained bodies win championships and lucrative contracts, celebrity bodies are stalked by papparazi and chronicled by tabloids". Love that Dr. Oz can't stop talking about what he feels passionate, particularly the cardio-vascular health! I'm all caught up with preventive measures to live younger and longer which include, 30min cardio every day, more vegetables, avoiding stress, critical need for 7-8 hrs of sl [...]

    27. A lot of good "factoids" here and a book that I will refer back to often. One thing I like about the book is when it makes recommendations that are common sense, they often explain the science behind the common sense. There is also a focus on how to prolong life which I found good. Not that you can fight entropy, but you can make wise choices to maximize life and quality of life. Because of the way God has designed us (my words, not theirs), we can make choices in eating, sleeping, activity, env [...]
