The Nest by Cynthia D Aprix Sweeney The Nest by Cynthia D Aprix Sweeney did absolutely nothing for me I clearly seem to be of the minority here, but I m fine with that I had high hopes for this one going in another brilliantly written cover flap did the trick but my expectations were never met, and by mid way, I stopped hoping and assuming that they eventually would be. 1. The whole thing about the creatures was handily spoiled by the cover art, but it's also not particularly hard to figure out from the text. I like that the over-the-top villain was a woman this time. The fact that the kids are going to Lothal next has me intrigued. The ending isn't as much of a cliffhanger this time which is nice. Still not as good as the Jedi Apprentice series, but it's decent enough.

    2. 3.5 starsWhen the crew, tracking a signal, lands on a planet with some big game hunters, things get really interesting! TThis was a fun adventure.

    3. After escaping Captain Korda’s clutches, Milo and Lina Graf must trace a rebel submission to a remote jungle planet. More dangers, however, lie in store from them. Will they find their parents and rescue them? Will they be able to stop Captain Korda and the empire? The story is well developed for being so short. Its characters are likable and realistic. Their droid and monkey-lizard add a lot of humor to the story. The illustrations are detailed and complement the text well. Fans of Star Wars w [...]

    4. Another brisk but entertaining STAR WARS novelette intended for younger readers but still entertaining for anyone else. As I mentioned in my review of the first book in the series the literacy & violence level reminds me of what you'd find in an episode of THE CLONE WARS or REBELS TV shows or the comic series being produced by Marvel. This time around there's a MOST DANGEROUS GAME element and an interesting female big game hunter character. 60-90 mins of genre reading well-spent, as far as I [...]

    5. Yet again I am surprised at liking these adventures the way I do. They are simple and fast paced kind of standalone adventures on the way to the final destination. The characters are rather stereotypical and shallow, but when one takes into consideration, that these are truly children books it ceases to be a problem. This time there is a lot less connective tissue with the bigger universe, but when it drops It makes you want to go on and read the next one.

    6. Nowhere near as engaging as THE SNARE (for either dad or child), but it finished strong and brings with it the promise of a trip to Lothal for Book 3.
