    1. A great little selection of pamphlets, posters, newspaper articles & speaches related to the Suffragette movement in the UK. Tbe collection is divided into 3 sections; for, against and victory. I found the section on opposition to women's right to vote the most interesting. There was a lot in the language used which still echoes in our own time, in the sexism still retained by society. Interestingly the article featured was from a group of women opposed to women's suffrage. Which I think is [...]

    2. A very interesting little book of newspaper articles, pamphlets, posters and legal documents surrounding the Suffragette movement in the UK - focusing mainly on England. The book was split into three sections: Suffrage, Anti-Suffrage and Victory and I found it really interesting to learn more about the women. Especially those opposing the vote. It's so wild to think that it wasn't until 1928 that women got the same voting rights as men!I'd definitely recommend if you're thinking about picking so [...]

    3. Once they are aroused, once they are determined, nothing on earth and nothing in heaven will make women give way; it is impossible.

    4. "Once they are aroused, once they are determined, nothing on earth and nothing in heaven will make women give way; it is impossible"This beautiful little book had been calling out to me for the past couple of weeks. Although this could easily be devoured in an hour, I decided to take my time. This amazing little book contains legal documents, posters, leaflets and newspaper articles all about the UK Suffragette movement. It was interesting to hear from different sides, especially those who were [...]

    5. "Once they are aroused, once they are determined, nothing on earth and nothing in heaven will make women give way; it is impossible."A small, enjoyable and interesting look into the Time of the Suffragettes. This Little Black Classic is full of speeches, posters, pamphlets and newspaper articles. Even a small view in the Anti-Suffragette movement, which seems silly and ridiculous now; it is a great feeling we can laugh about that now (most of the time), because the thought that women once had to [...]

    6. Hey wow dude if you wanna gain a whole lot of insight in the Suffragette movement (AND the anti-suffrage movement!) in, like, 60 pages, you should pick this lil book up! It only costs one literal pound and it also is filled with really cool old newspaper articles and speeches and some hysterical anti-suffrage advertisements

    7. A nice little "summary" of the history of the suffragettes. It really makes you realise how far women's rights have come and how hard women have fought for these rights (even if there is still a lot to do, it's amazing how much has been accomplished already). However, the book was sometimes a little dense: hence the three stars.Xx

    8. Interesting, informative and concise. 46 pages summary of the Suffragettes history told through newspaper articles, posters, pamphlets and legal documents from that time. It's divided in 3 sections: "Suffrage", "Anti-suffrage" and "Victory. Specially interesting the Anti side to reflect on how stereotypes and sexism appears as nowadays. For 1 pound, a good introduction to the topic.

    9. This is interesting and educational read on the Suffragette movement in England and it's information comes from pamphlets and newspaper articles of the time. A lot of this information I didn't know and I liked reading the opposing arguments.

    10. This little book of just 60 pages gives us a concise insight into the history of the suffragette movement and anti-suffrage movement. It is filled with speeches, including the 'Freedom or Death' speech by Emmeline Pankhurst, as well as suffragette posters, newspaper articles, pamphlets and letters. This penguin little black classic is divided into three chapters, which are as follows: Suffrage, Anti-suffrage and Victory.

    11. This 56-page Little Black Classic is divided into three sections: suffrage, anti-suffrage, and victory showing a selection of speeches, pamphlets, posters, articles, and pictures from the suffrage movement in the UK. Each entry stands on its own giving the reader the raw material to read and study.

    12. 3,5/5☆. This book offers a brief overview of the suffragette movement in Great Britain. It contains abstracts from speeches, pictures, posters, pamphlets, and abstracts from laws and articles among other things. What I enjoyed most was that it is divided in three chapters: Suffrage, Anti-Suffrage and Victory. Reading the opposing views side by side was really interesting and thought-provoking. Although I was sadly underwhelmed by the last chapter, which mostly consisted of official acts, I sti [...]

    13. Definitely worth reading. I just felt it was too compact and selected (which probably was the intention of the publishers). It's not bad as a starting point, but if it was a new theme to you - it might lack some context. I would like a bigger and more complete version on the matter. On the other hand I really enjoyed that the book has both movements represented - suffrage and anti-suffrage.

    14. A nice little collection of historical sources from the Women's Suffrage movement, educational and a good read, it being mostly sources means not many other opinions come into it, so it was nice to develop my own thoughts on it. Loving the new little black classics!

    15. "We think that the vote is but the prelude to a social revolution which must set back progress, for we believe in the division of functions as the keystone of civilisation. It is as if the animals on a farm should insist on changing places - the cows insist upon drawing the coach, while the horses strive in vain to chew the cud and ruminate." - The Opponent's View, Women's National Anti-Suffrage League by Mrs. Frederic HarrisonI chose this particular passage of this book because it's important t [...]

    16. Brief history and essentials. Easy to read. Will be useful as a quick reference. Included within the pricks' argument.Going through women's studies materials makes my blood boil. Just wanna go out there and kill every single slaver and oppressor. I avoid them most of time just for the sake of my sanity.

    17. An interesting little collection and probably a good introduction to the main two different kinds of suffragists. I like that an 'anti-suffrage' section was included. How stupid those arguments seem now, though the same sexist ideas are still prevalent.

    18. A very inspiring read full of material I've never seen before. And interesting that it gave both sides of the argument.

    19. After studying the Sufragettes for GCSEs, I became interested in this subject. This is a good introduction to the topic but I do wish it was longer.

    20. I really enjoyed this book and loved learning more about these amazing women! Highly recommend to men and women everywhere!

    21. "Once they are aroused, once they are determined, nothing on earth and nothing in heaven will make women give way; it is impossible.Recently, I have been fascinated with how the Suffragette Movement and its core principles have been portrayed in literature - whether that be in novels or newspaper, to name but a few. I thought this Little Black Classic would be the perfect book to fuel this fascination as it told the story of the women who "changed the world", doing this through materials sourced [...]

    22. This was a valuable insight into the political problems of the suffragettes, that came to a conclusion almost a hundred years ago. I think that this short lecture of pamphlets, articles, posters and speeches by important publications, leagues and activists of the era (for both sides) is most recommended in our current political situation (referring here to both the Trump incident and the anti-LGBT manifestations, and maybe to the overall feminist protests with various problems encountered in our [...]

    23. 3.5 starsThis is an important little black classic. Particularly for those interested in learning about the political history of the UK, and for those who identify as women. For such a small book this manages to pack in a fair bit of information. Some of it - such as the propaganda posters and mention of Millicent Fawcett and Emmeline Pankhurst - more common knowledge, but some that you may never have known about. I for one was totally unaware that Pankhurst had given speeches in America. Nothin [...]

    24. This is a lovely bind up of primary documents relating to the suffrage movement in Great Britain (though there is a speech from Pankhurst, 'Freedom or Death', in the US). I read a number of these documents and have seen some of the propaganda items separately, but it is nice to have a bind up of all of them together. This would definitely be a great introduction to the movement for anyone interested in reading/researching the suffrage movement, but who are not sure where to start. In terms of th [...]
