    1. It's a strange experience, reading about yourself in the third person. It's even stranger reading about what you worked towards as if it was important history. It very much helps that Carla Jean Whitely writes knowledgeably and understandably about a subject that otherwise could be deeply turgid.This is a great read on how a group of annoyed beer nerds changed laws and helped to produce a thriving craft beer industry in the Heart Of Dixie.     2. Really enjoyed learning more about this fine city's brewing history, from the prohibition days, legislation battles, and the taprooms of today. I put the book down with a strong desire to visit anew all Birmingham breweries, due to a much deeper appreciation for them and the hard work it has taken to have such fine beer in this state.
