    1. I went into this book with solid expectations, and I felt like Lebbon delivered. A lot of people have complained about the depiction of the Predators, but I didn't mind it. The action was great, and I am keen to read the next one. A good late night read. 4 out of 5 stars.

    2. possibly the dullest book I have ever read. boring characters. almost non existent predators and when they show up are killed off.just don't get what this is meant to have added to the predator series.

    3. Finally, the Alien/Predator novel I've longed for! PREDATOR: INCURSION does more to expand this shared universe than all the other Alien/Predator books I've read combined. I was greatly impressed by what a high-concept, well thought-out novel this is--a novel that every sci-fi fan can appreciate, not just the Alien/Predator diehards. Yes, there's a lot of action, but I applaud Lebbon for using these monsters somewhat sparingly and not bogging down the story in one repetitive action scene after a [...]

    4. Sadly this book suffers from being the first in a trilogy. I'm not sure why its solely called Predator and not Aliens vs Predator from the get-go - its not really a story you'd expect from a Predator novel. The predators don't appear for ages and there isn't much in the way of traditional predator action so if that is what you are looking for you will be disappointed. Most of the book concentrates on the humans and its mainly just setting up the plot of the trilogy - and while the story as a who [...]

    5. AwesomeI initially thought that this book wouldn't be any good but after reading Tim lebbons previous aliens novel I had to give it a go. This book was brilliant, from the first chapter the story captures you and draws you in. It is a number of different characters millions of miles apart all tangled in the same epic story, which is not just centered around the yautja (predators) but humans, aliens, androids, the lot. This was definitely a book that I couldn't put down and read at every opportun [...]

    6. Quick review:I had high hopes for this book. I'm a fan of Aliens and Predator so this sounded like a fun idea. But the constant character interjections and dull constant backstory butt-ins took away from the fun element of the story too much for me. I know that this is a 3-book story, but I don't know if I could take one more book, let alone two more. That's my quick review. Maybe later I'll come back and get into the positives and negatives a bit more at some future date.

    7. If you are into the alien and predator world's then go for it! It's worth the read. The chapters are pretty slow and always end with some sort of cliffhanger only with a new chapter to start with a new character. But the build up is amazing and I can't wait to read the others.

    8. Not a bad book overall. A little slow in places, and some characters a little bland, but overall a good film franchise book.

    9. Tim Lebbon has very distinguished reputation, from solid horror novels, fantasy novels and various tie-in novels in properties ranging from Star Wars to Hell Boy. Lebbon won me over big time last year with the publication of his amazing monster apocalypse novel The Silence. It was my number one novel of the year last year.So yeah I was really wanting to read more by Lebbon, and was really interested in this trilogy when he talked about writing it on the Three Guys with Beards podcast. You see th [...]

    10. So far behind, so many reviews. So forgive me if this one is shorter and more to the point than my usual pontificating. The first book in the The Rage War trilogy flings the reader far into the future from the events depicted in all the Predator and Aliens films, as well as those that happened in the recent Aliens trilogy from Titan books. As such there is no Ripley or anyone else who survived those books in this lead off novel from Tim Lebbon. Instead we get a whole developed universe in which h [...]

    11. A better then average popcorn book. Book like this tend to b written quickly with very little substance. This book had several stories going at once, and had be looking forward to each subplot and character. The ending left me looking forward to book #2. I consider these my guilty pleasures. There is substance here, it is just not very deep, but for books like this it doesn't need to be. The story lines remained cohesive and didn't loose their paths or wander. As long as you understand that these [...]

    12. The first book in The Rage War felt like a game of chess, in that it was a lot of moving pieces around before the real game began. The first half of the book has little action but feels like it's building to something. The last 50 pages picks up the pace. Since I'm a fan of Mr. Lebbon, I trust his style of writing enough to know he can pull off one hell of a story. That's why I'll be reading the next book in the series. However, as a standalone book, this one leaves readers a bit deflated.

    13. As a huge Alien and Predator fan, I really wanted to like this, but it was really disjointed and couldn't follow who was doing what. Also couldn't quite tell if aspects were flashbacks. While I will continue the series, I'm not very hopeful. And when did we start calling Predators Yautja?

    14. I've been a fan of the alien series since Ripley starting kicking ass in Aliens. I like where the story is going and I like how its written. Already bought the second in the series.

    15. I had not initially planned to read this novel as I am not a fan of the Predator world. I choose to read this because I have previously enjoyed novels written by Tim Lebbon. I'm glad that I read it. Wonderful to read and completely within the realm of the Alien world. The plot is complex, but not one that I felt was very surprising. It moves through the point of view of numerous characters, but this is done flawlessly. It was never jarring or confusing who you were with. Each character added a d [...]

    16. I think this book suffers for having chosen a date so far in the future (2600's), and as a result contains far too much speculative science - i.e. ideas you would expect in an Ian M Banks book, just not as good, and ham-fisted in alongside marines doing Aliens-style grunt stuff. So we have FTL travel, and people still use assault rifles to wage war? Alien always worked best when the experience was rooted in 20th century tropes - just look at the dingy trucker approach to space travel in Alien. T [...]

    17. Could this book have any more titles?Despite the pretentious name this is a good book.I took a chance based on my respectOf Tim Lebbon and was not disappointed. But to enjoy it you need to ease upOn the grip you have of theAliens / Predator series from the moviesAll the same players are here.Predators. Given the name Yautja here.Aliens. Called Xenomorphs. And Weyland-Yutani. The Corporation which might asWell be the Government of Human Space. Our story has a few too many moving pieces. That is not t [...]

    18. I had no idea what to expect. My only scifi ventures since Joe Haldeman ages ago have been nostalgic reads of the Star Wars Old Republic novels, which have been two star quality. This one starts off well, promising actual three-dimensional characters. Soon it descends into action without much character development, but isn't as annoying as most of that kind of plot-driven genre. And although there is action, there are mercifully few fight scenes. So, all in all a fair story. Might even check out [...]

    19. 3.5 stars, rounded up.I like Tim Lebbons writng, and his prose style is well-suited to the Alien/Predator universe. This book was a decent (if not mind-blowing) entry in the saga, and a promising start to this trilogy. And I'm glad they decided to move the timelime forward, giving us a brand-new take on the universe to learn about without the burden of worrying overly much about the established history of the saga.

    20. OK, even taking into account that this is the first book in an ongoing series - this is terrible. Despite lots of action, there is little suspense or tension. Characterisation is non-existent. There is not one likeable/interesting person. No one to root for, no one to cheer on. A waste of time.

    21. this was my first predator book and it was pretty good. there were not too many predators in it and they pretty much didn't show up until the end. this book pretty much sets up the was with the xenomorphs. I look forward to reading the other two books in the series

    22. Better than Alien covenant, new twist on the usual fare for tales in this universe. Predators go down a little too easily for my liking but im interested to see where it goes next.

    23. Predator: Incursion (Rage War #1) is the latest novel written by Tim Lebbon and released by Titan Books. Covering one of my favourite franchises – Aliens/Predator – I knew that I was going to read it, especially after last year’s trilogy of Alien novels, Out of the Dark, Sea of Sorrows, and River of Pain, were entertaining despite the issues I had with them. With this being the first Predator novel since South China Sea back in 2008 I was very eager to jump into see what exactly Lebbon cou [...]

    24. Takes a little time to get going but it does have an intense edge to it. the suits that Mains crew uses are pretty awesome and I hope more technology like that appears in the following novels.Looking forward to continuing this series.

    25. Great read, can't wait to start the next book!Keeps moving, easy to keep up with, and the story line makes you want to keep reading, start of a great series!

    26. This is the Alien equivalent of Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy in Star Wars Legends. If you only read one entry into Alien or Predator prose, let it be this one.

    27. Takes a while to get moving; the first half is getting all the characters into place and setting up. We come to this book for the yautja and xenomorphs, and beyond a prologue with a xenomorph, we don't see any yautja until half-way through the book. That said, it's written well enough and I'm interested in reading the next book.

    28. ***This review contains mild spoilers*** This is my new favorite Alien book. It is called Predator, but it is book one in a new AVP series. They just started rolling out all new Alien books in the last year. The first ones that I read were decent. Much better than the previous pieces of crap that have been published over the years. This one was great. I had a million things to do yesterday. Instead, I could not put this book down. I would walk away, then just come back to it. No regrets. The aut [...]
