    About "Diana Xarissa"

      • Diana Xarissa

Diana has lived in several US states, the north of England and the Isle of Man Currently in the US, she misses the stunning scenery, wonderful people and fascinating history that make the Isle of Man so unique.

    1. The normally sanguine Elizabeth Cubbon — called Aunt Bessie by virtually everyone on the Isle of Man — is dreading her presentation at a conference on Isle of Man history and archeology. Although she hasn’t a degree, Aunt Bessie has collected quite a lot of knowledge in seven-plus decades — nearly all of which have been spent on her native Isle of Man, and she is well respected in her field of 19th century wills and what they reveal about family relationships. But Aunt Bessie’s fears a [...]

    2. A fun read!I'm so glad I've discovered this mystery series! These are the sort of cozy mysteries that go perfectly with a cup of tea, some snacks, and a quiet night in. I can't wait to read the next one!

    3. This is my third Aunt Bessie book. These light-hearted mysteries, set on the Isle of Man, with a charming elderly auntie to the entire community, and her quirky friends, are entertaining and fun. Nothing heavy, just good old escapist fun.

    4. The book has a strong sense of place, makes me want to visit the Isle of Man. I've always enjoyed the British culture and this is the same with a little twist. The subject matter, an archeological/history conference, adds to the sense of place and knowledge of the area. As in all cozy mysteries it is a bit formulaic, but the characters are well-developed and there are plenty of suspects and twists and turns in the plot. Sometimes even the nicest people end up being the murderer.

    5. Very good book.I have just recently started reading this series, and find it to be well written. The island is described so well, that the reader can almost see it. This is an excellent mystery that is loaded with suspense and innuendos as to who the killer is. The surprise ending will surprise you.

    6. Aunt BessieAnother great Aunt Bessie mystery. This is a great series. The editing was superb and the characters were well developed. I did not figure out the murderer until the end. This book kept me so engaged that I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend this book and the series as well.

    7. Nice to get back to Aunt Bessie - this time caught up with an unexpected death at a conference in the Manx Museum. Great fun for me, as I can imagine the setting all to well, having both led and attended events in that exact setting myself!

    8. I like the atmosphere of the Isle of Man perhaps more than the plot. The characters are becoming stale and flat, but the history of Man keeps my interest.

    9. There is a large conference on Manx archaeology at the local museum. Aunt Bessie will be presenting on the third day, but she is very much looking forward to the rest of the conference. Then the opening speaker is asked to step aside in favor of Mack, an archaeologist with a penchant for lively speeches and curvaceous blondes. Mack claims he has an announcement that will change the course of archaeology on the island, and his announcement certainly seems to make a splash. In fact, somebody is so [...]

    10. Aunt Bessie Considers is book 3 of the Isle of Man Cozy Mysteries by Diana Xarissa. Like the first two, it is a quick book to read and a very interesting one. They are addicting. I have to finish all of them. Aunt Bessie is attending the Manx Archeology and History Conference at the Manx Museum in Douglas, Isle of Man. She will be presenting a session on 19th century wills which she has been researching. Her friend and Manx language teacher, Marjorie Stevens is one of the originators of the conf [...]

    11. Back with Aunt BessieIn this book Aunt Bessie is finally ready to give her speech on the history of 19th Century wills that she has been researching in the first two books. But, of course, she finds a dead body at the conference where she is to give her speech. Not only a body, but also someone who has been drugged. Which is completely different from the other books. The writing is still great and some parts are funny.

    12. Love Aunt BessiesuMy favorite cozy mysteries are about Aunt Bessie. I cannot wait for the next one. Great characters and just enough suspense. And the Isle of Man seems a lovely place.

    13. I loved this mystery! Aunt Bessie does it again, solving another tough mystery and aiding the CID in getting their killer apprehended, this time without danger to herself! Another great read from an author who is quickly becoming one of my favorites!

    14. If you are a cozy mystery fan, please avail yourself of this series set on the Isle of Man. For non-UK readers, the author very helpfully includes a glossary of terms of English to US English meanings!I've enjoyed all I've read so far.

    15. This is by far my favorite of the four I have now read. (Somehow I read #4 before #3) This was a great plot and the characters seem to finally come into their own. Author Xarissa is getting better with each book. Great job on this one.

    16. Another Aunt Bessie finds a body and solves the mystery. She is not quite as grouchy about her age and name--but almost. Inspector Rockwell is still being rather unprofessional as well, but the reason I keep reading is the Isle of Man itself. That is fascinating.

    17. Very hard to readI read the first two books and loved themI gave up trying to read this because the pages repeated, or skipped whole pages. Text format and background changed frequently. This was just too difficult to read. Hoping I can get a better download.

    18. recommendVery good agatha Christie like sleuthing with a variety of characters. Aunt Bessie is a likeable miss marble. The history of the setting adds to the story

    19. This charming little series has me hooked. Aunt Bessie and her friends are enjoyable, great locale, and the plot had a lot of twists and turns. Can't wait for the next!

    20. What a characterI am really enjoying the lead character Aunt Bessie. I am also reading the series of books back to back. Just can't seem to put them down they are so enjoyable.
