    1. When James Simpsons is caught in a situation that was supposed to be innocent but looked a bit too compromising, he is suddenly forced to marry the lady in question. Unfortunately her father refuses to release her dowry unless James agrees and is able to find a husband for the father's eldest daughter who was also caught within the scandal as an innocent bystander who was trying to save her sister's reputation from ruin.Lucinda Cardington is shy and awkward and doesn't really want to get married [...]

    2. This was a cute story. It's the third book in the Love's Grace series, I haven't read the first two books yet, but I didn't feel lost and thought the story stood well on its own. I'd like to read the other two now though.James finds himself in a sticky situation. His latest flirt, Emily had managed to trick him into marriage. The only problem, he's slowly falling in love with her sister, Lucinda. Oh, there is another problem, James is expected to find a husband for Lucinda! Lucinda and James hav [...]

    3. A sweet historical romance, A Bride for the Season was a nice read that I enjoyed. Lucinda was a heroine who knew who she was and what she wanted. She was devoted to her beliefs and refused to change herself to suit society. She was definitely strong and I thought she was a likable character.James was a little more iffy for me. He started off as seeming fickle and somewhat frivolous. As the book went on, he did prove that he had depth and was more than he made himself to be. I still wasn't total [...]

    4. This was a nice read but I expected much more I was a bit annoyed with the characters and the pacing of the story as well as how the story evolves was a bit offReview to come

    5. I was supposed to wrap Christmas gifts up today. I decided to take a quick peek at this book first. Bad idea. Thank goodness for gift bags and tissue paper!I'm not a romance buff by any stretch of the imagination, the hard to swallow plot-lines usually make me roll my eyes and DNF. But this one was different.First off, it's a Regency, and a CLEAN one at that, so no pre-marital hanky-panky going on, which I was glad of. Nothing makes me more livid then when characters act against their society's [...]

    6. As this was my first 'inspirational' I wasn't sure what to expect. But what I got was a lot of fun and a very sweet story. Of course I come in on the 3rd book in the trilogy, but that didn't hamper my enjoyment at all. Lucinda is very nearly on the shelf and pleased about it. She's a strong, independent woman constrained by her time and conventions. A husband will only hamper her ambitions more. James is the rogue her sister Emily has set her cap on, but he's just having a good time. Until Emily [...]

    7. Review originally posted here: courtneyreadsromancesite.wordJames is probably one of my favorite characters from this series, and I couldn't wait for it to be his turn to find romance, and even without looking ahead to the blurbs, Delamere makes it very obvious from book one that she has something in the works for him and Lucinda, even if they don't know it yet. Upon getting to know James, my fondness for him did not diminish, though I was surprised given his happy-go-lucky, and often immature, [...]

    8. A delightfully twisted tale, that kept me turning pages because--though I knew how the mismatched couples ought to be sorted out--I couldn't imagine how Delamere was going to make it happen. But I don't think it's a spoiler to say that she manages the trick, in a manner that Oberon and Puck would approve. Each book of this series includes some facet of early Victorian life that isn't commonly covered in historicals I've read. In this one we have photography, wonderfully integrated into the romanc [...]

    9. openbooksociety/article/a-Brought to you by OBS reviewer HeidiJames Simpson enjoys his life doing as he pleases and, who he pleases. He has no desire to settle down, or to end his rakish ways. But when the young Emily Cardington follows him one night to a place no respectable woman should ever go at night (let alone unchaperoned) just to find him, and her older sister follows to save her, they are discovered by a gossip column journalist who has no qualms about sharing it all. Both ladies are no [...]

    10. July 1853Lucinda Cardington and her younger and pretty sister, Emily Cardington, are both eligible for marriage. Lucinda is not interested in getting married, but Emily is quite eager. Lucinda is a very intelligent young woman who would rather set up her own home when she comes into a trust at age 26, hire a companion and live as she would prefer reading books and learning. Lucinda is quite involved with her good works. She is the Patron of the Caring House for Wayward Ladies located in the Spit [...]

    11. A Bride for the Season was an interesting book, to be sure. It was sweet and charming with just a touch of the unexpected. I was pleasantly surprised by the events that occurred. James, Lucinda, Mr. Hibbitt, and Emily sure kept things lively. James: This character seemed to be a gentleman rogue of sorts, at least by what could be gathered from his history. He was charming, passionate, and adventurous. He did not conform to society's standards, but marched to his own tune. He had a strong sense o [...]

    12. This romance novel is set in the 1850s in London. The story follows two characters. Lucinda Cardington is 25 and has given up the idea of a husband. She plans to use the inheritance she comes into the following year to set up her own home so she is freer to do what she wishes. She already spends one day a week at a shelter for women. There she helps to educate former prostitutes so they can find legitimate word and have a better life. But her parents still force her to attend social events that [...]

Originally Published on Nelle's NightStand Caught and trapped into marrying one sister, forced to become the matchmaker of the sister he slowly falls in love with; What is a scandalous rogue supposed to do?!!Oh this was such a sweetly romantic story! I was surprised at the religious undertones, I normally don't read clean romances. It has definitely opened me up to read more.Strong heroines are my favorite things!! Lucinda might have been the "ugly duckling" in her family but she knew just who s [...]

    14. # 3 in the Love's Grace series, but can be read as a stand alone. Fast paced with interesting and engaging characters. Meet, Lucinda Cardington, and James Simpson and follow them as they navigate their way through scandal, the ton, trust, family, passion, second chances and the most powerful thing of all love. While, the storyline is not unique to the historical romance genre, the characters in themselves are very unique and while, I hesitate to say awkward, both of the main characters have been hu [...]

    15. 3.5 starsMy Thoughts:Lucinda Cardington is happily on her way to spinsterhood. Her flighty younger sister, Emily, has no intentions of becoming a spinster. She has set her sights on James Simpson, and is determined to have him. Her reckless behavior leads to her being compromised, which suits her purpose, but also sets off a chain of events. James is resigned that he must marry Emily, though he was truly the innocent victim of her schemes. At least he'll have a pretty bride with a big dowry. But [...]

    16. James Simpson is enjoying a light flirtation with Emily Cardington. At least, it's light on his part. For her part well, she follows him to a seedy bar, bribes his mistress to take her shawl, and then forces herself into a compromising situation with James. Not lucky for James and even more unlucky for her near-spinster sister Lucinda who followed her there that a gossip columnist catches it all.Emily's father is not amused. But - he promises to increase her dowry if James can find a husband for [...]

    17. Scenes reminding the reader that love changes the way we see people, events, even ourselves. A middle as marvelous as the beginning and as sigh worthy as the end. These and more are reasons to read A Bride for a Season. Delamere's eye for detail and love of history make this love story a treat on so many levels. The author has woven an excellent romance between a spinster who just wants to be left on the shelf and a rake who finds himself forced to find her a husband. The romance of Lucinda and [...]

    18. Lucinda and James have a believable chemistry that will have readers wondering why they aren’t together from the beginning. James is very convincing using Scripture to explain why God wants Lucinda to be happy as well as serve others; this may be a lesson some readers need to hear themselves.Lucinda spends her time helping the less fortunate, while her younger sister Emily pursues more flirtatious endeavors. When Emily gets herself into a compromising position with James, he agrees to a marria [...]

    19. This was the third book in Jennifer Delamere's Love's Grace series, after An Heiress at Heart and A Lady Most Lovely and I absolutely loved this book. Lucinda Cardington was my favorite character in the book - a nonconformist young woman for her era, smart and disdaining of the nonsense of polite society in the aristocracy of the Regency period. Lucinda is interested in causes and she is interested in photography - and eventually she is interested in James Simpson, also interested in photography [...]

    20. James Simpson is a rogue who filled his days with his vices. Lucinda's sister Emily is determined to capture James. When James and Emily are caught in a compromising situation. James has no choice to offer for Emily. Lord Cardington made a deal with James. Lord Cardington wants both daughters to be married. James has to find suitors for Lucinda. When James spent so much time with Lucinda, he fall for Lucinda's inner beauty. Lucinda Cardington knows she is not graceful and beautiful like her sist [...]

    21. Following in the footsteps of Jennifer Delamere’s award-winning A Lady Most Lovely, this sweet romance is set in 1853 London and the story quickly swept me away. The author’s intense character interaction made me want to read the next chapter, and the next. The family aspect--two very different sisters and a harsh set of parents--made the plot twist and turn until I was not certain how James and Lucinda could possibly end up together. The writing was pure and engrossing, and the sexual tensi [...]

    22. This is a delightful, clean regency romance with come Christian elements. It was interesting, and I felt the characters, especially Lucinda, James, and Emily were delightful. The contrast between the two sisters was fun to explore. The ending probably wouldn't have gone quite as smoothly in real life, especially during that time period, but it was a unique solution. Jennifer Delamere is a new author to me, and I enjoyed her writing style. I will be looking for her future books.

    23. James and Lucinda's story was nice innocent yet heartwrenching one, well worth reading. I enjoyed the concept of James "compromising" Lucinda's sister and being charged with finding a man for Lucinda to marry. And in the process he falls in love with the woman he's supposed to be man-hunting for. The writing was easy to read, simple and innocent. But a good story.

    24. I won this book during the book tour via one of the blogs.I really like this series of books, and I was looking forward to reading James and Lucinda's story ever since the first book.A sweet historical romance was a nice read and I couldn't wait for the two main characters to find their way to each other.

    25. The pace of the book is just way too slow for me. I was looking forward to reading the book, but I had to force myself through the first chapters and then I gave up. If you don't mind a sedately paced book, try it, the writing itself is good.

    26. Unfortunately, I found the pacing very slow and I didn't like that the whole book was spent with the hero and heroine seemingly matched to other partners (one of them the heroine's sister!). That didn't work for me so this was a DNF. I won't be continuing with the series.

    27. For those who like this genre, it's probably not a bad book - but I am not a fan of the "inspirational" fiction titles - so, despite an interesting premise, this struck me as stilted, unbelievable and boring.

    28. I think the story line was good but the book was a little drawn out. It took a while for me to read as I kept losing interest.
