    1. Hey there Guys and Dolls, Catering can apparently be hazardous to your life, and then you are going to need to call in the professionals. Was it the lunch you ate, or the company you keep? Dee Dee Pearson has chosen catering as her new profession, but it’s not going as well as she would have liked when the school principle is found murdered! The business that she started to bring in an extra income soon turns into something else altogether. The little town she lives in may have swanky soirees b [...]

    2. Yet another book I'm glad I paid little or nothing to download onto my kindle. The story itself was OK, but where was the editing? How can an author change from first person POV to third in the same paragraph and no one catch it?

    3. A cozy mystery about a middle-aged woman, DeeDee, starting her own catering business. On her first catering job, a man is killed. In hopes of getting her pay check (which is nonsensically being held up by the staff of the school where she catered), she decides to try to solve the mystery. This premise, of course, is just ridiculous. (At least the author, speaking through DeeDee's husband, acknowledges the silliness of this premise, about 2/3 of the way through the book. But, that doesn't really [...]

    4. Needs editing.Needs editing.I wish I could give a better rating but the author would write one thing and then a few pages later contradict herself. when Dee Dee arrived she placed a linen tablecloth on the table. After the meal she put leftovers and dishes in coolers a.d linens in a laundry bag, leaving the room cleaner than when she arrived. a few pages later her husband was assisting in packing up supplies including the dishes and the linen napkins. The receptionist told Dee Dee that the murde [...]

    5. I enjoyed this story. A woman, DeeDee, is trying a new career in catering. Her first job was a luncheon at Eden Academy. It is a snooty, private school. Everything was going well. After the luncheon ended and DeeDee was cleaning up, a scream was heard. Everyone headed towards the noise. The head of the school was murdered. Shot through the heart with a bow and error. Everyone seemed to hate him, so there were plenty of people of interest that could have killed him. And then his assistant was mur [...]

    6. I enjoyed this book. The author did a solid job introducing a slew of characters in a small space/amount of time, but she flushed them out well, developing even the minor characters (if you read close enough). There were some editing mistakes throughout, though I'm not sure if that was deliberate or if this was an advance copy (I read the electronic edition from kindle).Dee Dee's sleuth skills are amateur, of course, but that's how it's written (how many times does her husband tell her this isn' [...]

    7. A great cozy mystery read. Dee Dee decides she wants to start a small catering business. Her first job is at Eden Academy a private school. It's supposed to be a retirement luncheon for June Bug one of the teachers. But June Bug says its her birthday party. She isn't retiring. After the luncheon as Dee Dee is cleaning up a scream is heard the head of the school was murdered in the basement shot through the heart with a Bow and Arrow. No one really liked him so there are plenty of suspects. And t [...]

    8. I figured out who did it as soon as they appeared. Spoilers*****The entire book is of red herrings but there is not a single hint that Maxie the bus driver was the murderer. How did I figure it out? A good mystery would have you think Aha! at the end because the author put in subtle hints of the real murderer. A bad mystery would have the author say "Aha, you didn't suspect because the murderer had no real motive and was a background character." Maxie was a bad stereotype: fat and crass. I gave [...]

    9. Fun cozy mystery!Catered to Death is the first book in the Midlife Crisis series and the first book I have read by Marlo Hollinger. I was kept guessing until the end as to who did it. An fun, enjoyable mystery that can be read in a couple of afternoons. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

    10. It's been quite a while since I read an author with so much skill in adding a group of characters to the scene and keeping them so well developed as individuals. Such a delight to 'meet' so many characters instead of being handed an inventory of them. All in all, it's a good Cozy Mystery story with very logical circumstances for each little twist, and kept me engaged all the way to the end.

    11. This book kept me interested. I liked the unique characters and the story. It had a comfortable feel and moved along easily. I could resonate with the nervousness of starting a new business. If I had to put this book down, I wanted to go back to reading it. It was an easy and fun read.

    12. This was ok but nothing special and to be honest I am glad it was a freebie as I would have been a bit disappointed if I had paid for it.

    13. Just not very good. She fumbles around and never figures anything out anyway. Plus the author mixes up characters a couple times, really confusing things.Overall just very blah.

    14. This book was enjoyable. Have to wonder if anyone proofread this book. So many typo mistakes, kind of took away from being able to concentrate on the story. But all in all a cute book.
