    1. My husband's family are Moravians from Winston-Salem, and I LOVED the atmosphere in the book; it reminded me of how Laura Lippman evokes the atmosphere of my own hometown of Baltimore. The characters were also engaging. The plot was enjoyable UP TO A POINT. As a matter of taste, I don't go in for the psychic and supernatural. If you have the same predilections, your enjoyment may also be diminished. This author seems to specialize in paranormal fiction, so I am not likely to look for her other wo [...]

    2. For this review, I am posting Theresa's interview on my blog:Today, I would like to welcome author Theresa Crater as my guest blogger. In her fiction Theresa Crater brings ancient temples, lost civilizations and secret societies back to life in her visionary fiction. In The Star Family, her most recent novel (discussed below) a Gothic mansion holds a secret spiritual group and a 400-year-old ritual that must be completed to save the day. The shadow government search for ancient Atlantean weapons [...]

    3. This book screws on the tension. It starts with a hint of mayhem, then there is the classical device of loose ends and new beginning: the protagonist loses her job without warning, and accedes to a dying old woman’s wish to take over her house. Then, things are interesting although low-key. But, as you read on, the screw turns, and the tension multiplies.I like learning about new things. I certainly found a treasure trove in this book. It has educated me about a version of Christianity, an anc [...]

    4. What I love about all of Theresa Crater's books is her well-done, extensive research, which really brings her characters and their surroundings to life. The Star Family is a compelling read. It appeals to my love of historical fiction AND my passion for all things mystical. A mystery (or two) to be solved, a world to be saved, and realistic, well-drawn characters with whom to journey. I recommend The Star Family (and other Crater novels) to my friends who enjoy wrapping their realism in a bit of [...]

    5. Well written characters involved in a spiritual journey filled with danger and enlightenment. An excellent mystery based on well-researched history of the Moravian Church. I get every book by this author as soon as it is released.

    6. This quest to find the ancient artifact that may change the course of the world is a modern story that delves into the secret religious societies of the past. Well-written, intricate, unusual and a great read.
