    1. The story here is pretty standard stuff, and it's influences are obvious. But it's certainly not bad. But it's really the art that makes this so fantastic. The artist cuts and pastes photographs of everyday objects and sculptures digitally to make a really bizarre world full of robot/human hybrids. It all looks really digital--so if that's not your thing, you won't like it--but I enjoyed it a lot.

    2. Not too bad. The artwork is interesting. I’d have liked more information about the backstory of mechanicization rather than the fantasy-type vibe of it being magic or something.

    3. andalittlewine/20Is it despite or because of Archeologists of Shadows: The Resistance's slick graphics that it reminds me of a video game?RPGs are one of my favorite forms, but they (almost) all follow the same trope: we, the heroes, dive into the world and are slowly introduced to its key elements. We are Neo, and we need a Morpheus to walk us slowly through the game mechanics. We are Frodo, lost if not for Strider's explanations It's a trope underscoring one of the great weaknesses of science [...]

    5. Original review here: sugarandsnark/?p=8097Archeologists of Shadows was one hell of a thrill ride! In a world where everything and everyone becomes mechanized (as it is the will of the gods), there is a resistance building! And if you are not machine enough you go to Prison. So Alix and Baltimo have to make a choice, resist or become even more mechanized to a point where there is no return.I cannot get over how amazing the artwork was, I mean truly once in a lifetime gorgeous! And the last 50 pa [...]

    6. Artwork - 4 out of 5 starsStoryline - 2 out of 5 starsFor the life of me, I cannot tell you what this graphic novel's plotline was. The artwork totally overpowers this graphic novel to the point where it was difficult for me to distinguish the characters from one another that I simply gave up midway through and just enjoyed what I was seeing on my tablet screen. All I managed to get from this story was something about a mechanized world where there is some sort of power struggle involving the Ar [...]

    7. I actually couldn't finish this one, which makes me sad. There are only a few books I've ever started and given up on. I really wanted to like this one. The art work is beautiful, however it also becomes a problem. The story is hard to follow, the characters all start to look alike, and the artist starts copy/pasting frames. After a while the constant light flare in the artwork also makes it hard to figure out what you are looking at. I thought if I put it down for a bit and picked it back up a [...]

    8. I don't mean for this to sound negative, but Archeologists of Shadows looks like a video game. Maybe it's based on one - I don't know. The art is very nice, but I'm afraid the story wasn't quite what I was expecting. Know also that of the eBook's 100+ pages, half of them are art and sketches only.

    9. Quick thoughts: Call this 3.5 rounded up for exquisite art and design. Love the steampunk atmosphere and world building. Story's a bit overly ambitious and lacking sorely needed details in parts, but interesting with a unique blended mythos involving religious concepts and robotic characters.

    10. An excellent introduction to an ongoing saga with exceptional storytelling to go along with innovative art.
