    1. 4.5/5 - I read this book (almost) twice. The first time I read most of it but failed to finish because I wasn't in the right mood and I was a little baffled by the inclusion of some very sad poetry. The second time, I was blown away. Being in the right mood for poetry makes a huge difference. While you might not want to buy Ode to Childhood for new parents, if only because of the poem about a parent's fear during illness that his child would die, it runs the gamut.     2. This is a visually lovely book on a rich topic. I loved the paper, the typography, the rich colors, and the quaint illustrations. There are some great poems but some mediocre ones too. I wish there were more great ones and more that evoked the great range of emotions represented by childhood. In any case, it would be (and was) an excellent gift for a parent of young children.


    3. A lovely compilation of poems from the greats on the subject of childhood. There are some happy, sad, and just plain strange poems in this compilation. I would like to own it because it reminds me of my niece Bailey. It also has nice illustrations scattered throughout and is easy to dive into.
