    1. My first Ashokamitran, and I'm suitably depressed after reading it. Manasarovar looks like a small book, and definitely does feel like it, until about five sentences in. The mood of slow, brooding intensity that the writer manages to hold (and the translator manages to reproduce in English) throughout the novella is something you have to experience to understand. The plot is rather simple, and it is Ashokamitran's character sketches that drive the narrative along. Both Satyan Kumar and Gopal are [...]

    2. The novel goes around with two persons who are connected by one common field. The best part of this book which is I felt is that narration style. The story goes with two persons point of view which I felt unique as of now. The story revolves around with two persons who are entirely different in caste, creed, religion , fame and money. Somehow the author linked both and introduced sidhar at the later part of the story which makes the plot interesting towards the end. The author describes about th [...]

    3. This is my first book from Ashokamitran and he introduced a new way of narrating a story of two friends using two self-narrations alternatively. Each chapter has curious ending which sometime even tempt to skip the next chapter and flip pages to alternative chapter - till you read few lines of the next chapter.I feel in this first book itself, how brilliant writer he is and how meticulously he is unveiling the scenes. For instance, Gopalji went to betel in his mouth and in few scenes after in th [...]

    4. The book revolves around two humans who share a common backdrop, Cinema. Behind the scenes of a movie there lies a vast ocean of untold stories and Manasarovar deals with one such story. A rags to riches hero and a mediocre writer meet each other and find themselves comfortable in sharing their viewpoints. Initially the author builds each character by elaborating a day in their life. After which the first twist is presented and from that point the story races till the climax. Racy not as in a ac [...]

    5. ENTIRE STORY IS TOLD IN FIRST PERSON,DIFFERENCE BEING BY TWO PERSONS IN SIMULTANEOUS EPISODES TELLS ABOUT EXISTENTIALISM OF TWO DIFFERENT PERSONS FROM DIFFERENT SOCIAL CLASSES. ONE IS AN FAMOUS HINDI ACTOR COMING TO ACT IN FILMS PRODUCED BY SOUTH INDIAN STUDIOS(VARIOUS SUCCESSFUL HINDI FILMS WERE SHOT AND PRODUCED IN THE THEN,"MADRAS" IN THE SIXTIES,THE NOVEL IS BASED IN SIXTIES) AND GETS ACQUAINTED WITH A MIDDLE CLASS SCRIPT WRITER AND AN UNEXPECTED TWIST HAPPENS RIGHT AT THE END OF THE STORY. 6.
