    1. A fluffy novel, big on coincidence, and built on unreasonable overreactions. For example, why didn't Lorraine Lily just phone the Reillys, explain the situation, and ask to retrieve her items from the hidden safe rather than attempt breaking into their apartment. The items and cash in the safe were legitimately hers, and the Reillys seemed like reasonable people. Similarly, the bungled attempt at breaking into the hidden safe by Arthur (via Wally) could have been done easily during working hours [...]

    2. This is a harmless little story – weak mystery with way too many coincidences. All the characters know each other and run into each other during the NYC blackout of 2003. It turns out that this is the 11th in a series by Carol Higgins Clark featuring the detective Regan Reilly. This might be a book you would recommend to someone that wants to read while laying on the beach in the summer.

    3. Hated it. This lady is a terrible author and I think the only reason she gets published is because her mother is famous. The only reason I read this is because my mom had it on her shelf. What a waste!

    4. I had two major problems with this: many of the characters whipped themselves into more of frenzy than circumstances seemed to call for, and the coincidences were just piled too high. One character decides to hire a friend to break into her old apartment to retrieve some letters; seems to me she could have just asked the neigbors who bought the place if she could go in and get them. The guy who breaks into the apartment (not the same guy the character in the last sentence hired, but a different [...]

    5. Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books1 star This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.2 stars This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.3 stars This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.4 stars I really [...]

    6. Another installment of the Regan Reilly series. I do not think this one was as good as the others. This one was pretty bland and the scenarios just seemed rather contrived. She was never hired, just happened to stumble onto a situation and set out to solve the problem. The other story line was pretty bad. An actress who is getting divorced finds out her husband has sold the apartment where she has hidden some pretty controversial letters in a safe. If they get mailed, it could ruin her career. S [...]

    7. Zapped: A Regan Reilly Mystery by Carol Higgins ClarkI don’t expect a whole lot from a mystery, but this one really disappointed me. The plot was choppy, the characters were shallow and the dialogue was often wooden. The 2003 New York City Blackout provides the setting for Zapped. I had hoped to get insight into what happened and how people reacted. I learned it was dark and hot and people partied all night long.

    8. she is defintly nothing like her mother as a writer. this book was so predictable and overly coincidental that it was unbelievable. she even put in some coincidences that really did not need to be in there and the book would have been fine if not better without having them. it's fine to have 1 or two coincidences in a book and even a couple of random things were you go - oh that is cool how that worked out but to have a whole book and story line based on that was just ridiculous,

    9. This was one of the most pointless books I have ever read. I was wondering if she needed to put a book out, and just "threw" together whatever.

    10. This is a fairly complicated mystery. The Reillys have purchased the neighboring apartment and are turning the two into one bigger home. Their neighbor had sold it to them while his wife was in England. She returns to find she has no where to stay and that the secret safe she had installed in the apartment still holds incriminating material she needs to get. Meanwhile Georgina, a psychopath who likes to brand tall blonde men, has just picked up a new prospect for her torture. At the same time a [...]

    11. This is a light mystery set in New York City when a power outage occurs. Newlyweds Regan & Jack Reilly return from a vacation and find their Tribeca apartment has been broken into. An actress returns from a successful theater run in England and is told by her wealthy husband that he is divorcing her and has sold their Tribeca apartment to the Reillys who live next door. A gallery in SoHo is robbed of highly valuable glass sculptures, and a business convention attendee deserts a colleague at [...]

    12. SUMMARY: As Zapped begins, the Reillys return home from a summer weekend to the loft in Tribeca they are in the agonizing process of renovating and expanding. They are looking forward to a quiet supper on their newly acquired rooftop terrace. But it's not meant to be. While Jack goes to pick up Chinese food, Regan enters their apartment, unaware that a nervous thief, who preceded her by minutes, is hiding in the front closet. A thief who knows about a hidden safe that Regan and Jack have yet to [...]

    13. Another great installment in the Regan Reilly series. 'Zapped' takes place on the night of the 2003 blackout in New York City, an event Carol Higgins Clark actually experienced herself. Her descriptions of the blackout and the physical sense of it really come off the page and she does a great job of showing how it brought out the good in people (people having block parties, and just handling the whole thing really well, people helping each other out) as well as the bad (looting, people breaking [...]

    14. Spoiler Alert! In Zapped, Regan Reilly and her husband Jack are returning early from a long weekend when New York City experiences a blackout. During the blackout, the private investigator and her husband, head of the NYPD Major Case Squad, have to find stolen art, search for a young man with a very dangerous date and find out who was in their apartment and why they were there. Due to some interesting turn of events, they were able to find the stolen art, discovered multiple people were attemptin [...]

    15. Another light-hearted adventure for Regan Reilly. I love mysteries and was looking for a cozy to lose myself in. Higgins Clark cast a wide net of characters to meet on a dark, dark New York City night when the power goes out. It enjoyed seeing how she connected all of them.

    16. i really loved this book! its the type of book that would make a good tv movie or movie where there are characters who need to get something or have to help someone and time is limited. in this case, there are 4 main sets of characters. t he reilley's. are the main couple. it happens on a night of a major blackout. there are two sets of criminals, a lady who came back from out of the country that found out her soon to be ex sold an apartment and she desperatly needs something, as of to which the [...]

    17. Carol Higgins Clark should really hire a professional reader to read her books, which seem amateurish with her reading them. The mystery is pretty good, however.Regan and Jack Reilly have purchased the apartment next door to expand, and the former owner had installed a hidden safe where she hid some money, but she really needs to get back the scathing pre-addressed, pre-stamped envelopes and letters that the actress had written previously as therapy. It will ruin her career if they are sent! Mea [...]

    18. This is a cute book and a fast read. The characters are easy to follow and it's great how they all come together somehow in the end. With that said, a couple of things bothered me. First of all, we wouldn't have a story I know, but why couldn't Lorraine just ask Jack and Regan if she could come to their apartment and get her belongings out of the safe? She wouldn't have to tell them what's in the safe. She just didn't know her soon to be ex-husband sold the loft to their neighbor's! Secondly, it [...]

    19. Like all of her novels, this one is well-written and entertaining. Zapped is a quick paced mystery/suspense that can, if one is able, be read in one sitting; however, I didn`t have that luxury. The cast of characters can become confusing as the plot develops and more people become involved. The author jumps from one character/story line to another, generally doing so in separate chapters, so I found myself having to refresh my memory as to which character was which, especially when it came to [...]

    20. I was turned off pretty early by the plot. Lorraine came back from England and was notified by her husband that he had sold their apartment to their neighbors (by coincidence, the Reillys) and he was getting a divorce. Lorraine had some letters that she didn't want to be made public, in a safe in that apartment, so she immediately started dreaming up an idea for breaking and entering, etc. etc. etc. to get the letters . corny. She could have just told the Reillys about the safe and they would ha [...]

    21. I had not read anything by this author. Probably won't again. The story was mediocre. Nothing exciting. Nothing suspenseful. There were many strange storylines in this book. One of the storylines reminded me of the Three Stooges. Mind you, I didn't like The Three Stooges. They were so corny and not even funny. Why did I pick this book? Well, I'm in a book challenge to read one book from every letter in the alphabet. Other than that, now I know why I never read a Carol Higgins Clark.Somebody said [...]

    22. Zapped was another great adventure featuring Clark's Regan Reilly. Clark delivers a fabulous adventure full of the great colorful characters of hers that I have grown to love. I have come to realize when I want a fast, fun, and delightful cozy to read then I have to pick up a Regan Reilly book. The book begins with Regan and Jack returning home after some time away to a blackout in New York. Naturally adventure follows them when the wife of the man who sold them his loft comes home to the surpri [...]

    23. Carol Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors for a lite read. Funny, good plot, good characters and no sex, drugs or violence are all part of my criteria for a pleasant escape read. In this installment of the series, Regan and Jack Reilly have just returned to Manhattan, only to experience a regional-wide black-out. During that time their apartment is broken into (and Regan is locked on on her balcony), an art gallery is broken into and valuable glass works are stolen, a crazed female is on [...]

    24. It was a quick and fairly entertaining read. Not terrible and not great, it was another installment of the Regan Reilly Mysteries. The description of the Blackout was fine and felt accurate to how the city would have reacted (I've lived there for 7 years, so I'm typically very critical of how the city is described.) However, the entire book seemed to be based on extremely (and highly unlikely) coincidental events, over-reactions and timelines that just didn't seem to fit How quickly can one real [...]

    25. This was a very fast read and continues the story line of Regan Reilly and her now husband Jack. They have just come back from a trip and all of a sudden the city of NY is blacked out. with parts of NJ and Conneticut due to a failure on the grid. In the midst of the evening (and yes it all takes place over about 12 hours max, probably more like 8) Regan gets locked on the roof of her building, a mad woman is on the loose that wants to brand all men because of a bad relationship and two different [...]
