    1. This is a very good book about eating disorders, as even though the author talks about her weight and food, the way it's written doesn't trigger. There were so many parts of Judith's story that I could relate it, parts were like she was describing my own life. She shows so well, how anorexia becomes just an everyday part of your life and not an event stopping fit.I got rid of my copy of it as a 'move on' kind of 'ceremony' but I would recommend it to everyone.

    2. I first heard of Monkey Taming through a recommendation from my friend, and from the moment I started reading, I was automatically hooked. This book is mildly graphic (nothing major or traumatizing) since the author is referring to anorexia, so it's more appropriate for teenagers. I enjoyed this book a lot! It was very moving; at some points I felt as though I was about to cry. However, that didn't stop my from reading the book in a day. It really is remarkable how the author managed to fully re [...]

    3. I'm still not sure if I liked this book. It carries a lot of emotional weight, at least it did to me. I am definitely not like the main character, but I do like her have a hard relationship with food. I don't have any kind of problem like this girl does, but I do feel like throwing up after I eat something "bad" for me. I get quite sensitive when it comes to food, so I don't really know what to say about this story.

    5. I read this book several years ago and found it to be a good read. Unfortunately, the author failed to justify Jessica's line of thought and actions, which leaves the reader frustrated at the character. Other than that, I like how we get to see how the anorexic mind sees things. Not just the clinical point of view, leaves you with a better understanding of anorexia nervosa.3.5 stars

    10. This book's absolutely worth reading for everyone, especially for teen girls who want to lose weight because of peer pressure or because they feel they're not enough. I think that everybody can learn a lot from this book, as I did. Well, I basically ate it because, reading word after word and recognizing myself in every page, gave me an incredible sensation. It made me understand that I wasn't the only girl who suffered that way. I read this book at the age of 14, now I'm 17; this story helped m [...]

    11. 'Monkey Taming; You've Eaten too much you Fat Pig', is about a thirteen-year-old girl named Jessica, who's under the pressure to be thin. She deals with comments about her weight everyday, & finally one day she decides she refuses to give the others something to make fun of her about; she will be thin. So, she goes anorexic, only wanting to be accepted & deciding this is the only way, unaware of the dark hell hole she has put herself in. I finished this book, because I thought it was rea [...]

    12. I have read this book over and over since I bought it in 2007. I would say I have given it a read at least once a year since then - so about 8 or 9 times. Every time I read it, I am reminded of what a crazy world we live in, and how even though people try to portray that they are perfect, they are still only human, with hopes and dreams, fears and insecurities. Judith Fathallah has the most tender way of writing about something so ugly - her innocence has been taken, but who she is still exists [...]

    15. Loved loved loved this book.As a person suffering from an eating disorder, this book was SO on point. It was really relatable without it being triggering. The only reason i did not give is a full five stars was because I felt that the recovery part was a little unrealistic? The way it was written felt more like she recovered overnight rather than it takes an incredible amount of efforts to really eradicate an eating disorder. However, I do understand that this book is more of how the protagonist [...]

    16. This book was really incredible. The situations, characters and problems were all so believable and the way it was written made you feel sympathy, but not really pity, the main character. It allows you to understand how anorexia can occur, what effect it can have and how it can ultimately be beaten. You're given a rare insight into the mind of an anorexic in this book with the author being a former sufferer too. I would definitely recommend this if the topic of ED is of an interest to you, or to [...]

    17. This book was very moving and insightful. Jessica's story was very interesting and gave real understanding into what happens inside a mental health unit. It was very upsetting when the unit became understaffed because it is a very realistic portrayal, and to think that most of the teenagers were left without any proper support was really disheartening and distressing. The only part I did not like was the ending. The book seemed to end too fast and I would have preferred that Jessica's final steps [...]

    19. Well it certainly didnt help my recovery against my eating disorder but it was very relatable and im just glad that the ending was positive kind of gave me hope i guess. It's a very good read though Im having 3 stars mainly because somthings are exaggerated and sometings were looked down upon in the book that is a massive importance I've witnessed what an ED can do and am going through it and somethings in this will make another scoff

    21. I'm a bit sentimental when it comes to this book because I first read it when I was 13 and in a pretty bad place. I believe that it wouldn't have such an impact on me if I read it now at 19 but I still like it even though I'm not a fan of sudden happy endings and characters who think they've seen it all and are oh so mature at 13. anyway, I've read "Monkey Taming" about 4 times and I will definitely re-read it in the future even though I find it pretty triggering.

    23. I didn't quite like this book. It was really morbid but it had a really good point. Its based on the authors dealings with anorexia. This girl called Jessica goes on a diet but it goes horribly out of control. She weighed and her mother than hands her over to a health clinic where she stays until she is cured. She meets other mentally unhealthy and she fights to get out of the health clinic. Even though she got out of the clinic in the end it was still a rather unhappy book.

    24. Are you serious? Two other people gave this trite, sterotypical, bland little novel a 5/5? If you're looking for a dry, unsatisfying story about your typical eating disordered patient with her typical IP stay and a typical psuedo-recovery, then this book is for you. If not, try Wasted. Or a Girl, Interrupted. Or the phone book. All equally more valid and entertaining than Monkey Taming.

    25. The story was very upsetting. It made me feel a bit uncomfortable when I was reading it. Luckily, the girl called Jessica in the book overcomes her anorexia and grows up as a happy person after the illness has passed. Overall,it was a good book despite how upsetting it is.

    27. I first read this when it first came out, so I was still in high school and I loved it and it spoke to me at the time. This book takes realistic and personal issues and portrays them in a way that young people can understand.

    28. "Jessica" suffers from a severe case of special snowflake syndrome and pretentiousness. Also if I wanted to read a memoir, I would have read a memoir. This this is basically a memoir that claims to be a work of fiction. 0/10 would not recommend.

    29. Such a good insigh tinot the head of an anorexic. It helped me really understand what the disorder was about.

    30. Incredibly moving. An eye-opener. It's writing like this that should be used to raise awareness of every hidden issue.
