        Dr William Young, born and raised in central Wisconsin, retired as the Associate Director of International Programs and Adjunct Professor of History at the University of North Dakota in May 2014 He is currently working on a book regarding war and diplomacy in the Early Modern European Era William specializes in the history of international relations and military history He especially enjoys Medieval, Early Modern, and Modern European history as well as U.S diplomatic and military history His latest published works include German Diplomatic Relations 1871 1945 2006 , International Politics and Warfare in the Age of Louis XIV and Peter the Great 2004 , and European War and Diplomacy, 1337 1815 2003 His book reviews have been published in the Journal of Military History and on the websites International History Diplomatic and Military History since the Middle Ages, Military History, Civil War History, The War Studies Group, Frontier Battles Covering the Wars for and against Empire in America, 1607 1815, and H War Military History Network William is a former historian for the United States Air Force History Program He is the author of 42 volumes of Air Force history as well as numerous special studies and monographs He is a three time recipient of the Air Force Historian of the Year Award His military assignments included 13 years in the United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia William retired from the Air Force in 1997 William is married to Patricia Young, and they have four children and four grandchildren He is an avid collector of history books and enjoys college ice hockey They live in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
