    1. Like a net slowly being drawn in, I see the fish swimming around in it, still unaware of what's about to happen. The anticipation is killing me, and I'm watching some of the characters and saying to myself are you kidding me? Oblivious, arrogant, and entitled are dangerous weaknesses. I suspect book 5 will have tears, expected them already, but it was delayed. Allons-y!This thought though is perfect, and why so much fails:Parfir’s edicts of generosity, humility and compassion moved Samsango to [...]

    2. Shit-shock-horror! My feeeeels! Amazing! - The PlotHorrifying! - The burning!Heartbreaking! - Ravishan!Betrayed! - I'm not saying.In love! - JohnEnraged! - Dayyid! GrrrIn awe! - Ginn HaleTerrified! - the future.That's all I have for now. Onward

    3. My favorite not-yet-couple. But the two of them belong together. Period. “Nothing’s going to happen?” Ravishan asked. Slowly, he opened his eyes and offered John one of his dazzling, rare smiles. John loved that smile—the joy in it, the honesty of it, and most of all the fact that it was meant just for him. Suddenly, John desperately wanted Ravishan. The wind, snow and stone surrounding them didn’t matter. All he wanted was to kneel with Ravishan beneath the shelter of this outcropping [...]

    4. Blackmail, spying, blood, and burnings. I’m scared now. My heart and gut are waiting and bracing for trouble. As John’s power and connections slowly reveal themselves, the secrets, desires, and lies are getting harder to hide. The constant dangers, deceit, and tensions are all making me nervous. Dayyid’s mistrust and suspicions, Fikiri (I have my eye on you!), and even Laurie all have me in knots and muttering to myself. Haha…God, I love this series! Witches’ Blood upped the ante for me [...]

    5. Read with Katface.Insert: typical whinge that this shouldn't be series. This got really fucking good this book. I don't think it's so much because of particular incidents that can be isolated to this small chunk of manuscript so much as the various tensions and relationships, and slowly accumulated knowledge, built over the previous books finally came together and paid together. There's also some seriously dark stuff in this one - nothing gratuitously explicit but the violence integral to repressi [...]

    6. HANN'YU IS MY BOOOk, ok, ok *rubs hands together*I have all these theories, ya see? Like guesses as to what's going on. And so far, wellI don't know if any of them are right. A couple have been revealed to be wrong. But, I'm feeling really confident about a few. And for those of you who've read this series, my guess is YOU TOO had theories!!! There's a Rifter support group somewhere, right? For like, when this is all over? And when I don't know what to do with myself once it's done? RIGHT? PLEAS [...]

    7. Love these books, brilliantly woven plot!'John bowed his head and gently kissed Ravishan's lips. He only meant it to be brief and sweet. But then Ravishan closed his eyes and opened his mouth to him. Desire surged through John's body. He pulled Ravishan against him hard, kissing him with a savage hunger.'- YES!!

    8. Ok, so the 4th book in the series is the best one yet! I love it! We only have John's (Jahn) POV this time, but I have a suspicion about who Ravishan is. I'm curious if I'm right :D

    9. This is a good story. The characters are amazing. The world is fascinating. The writing is superb. The presentation, however, not so much. Keep in mind, tho, that this is my personal opinion and I am very much aware that it does not coincide with the majority of my friends' opinions. Still, I am entitled.I wish the story was less predictable and was arranged better, i.e compiled into fewer volumes, contained less zig-zagging in time or maybe shorter periods of it. The characters are doubled and [...]

    10. The Rifter series, so far, is outstanding and I'm enjoying every minute of it. I find I'm falling more in love with John and Ravishan with each installment, although I'm now starting to panic about what the future holds for them both and whether or not they'll get their chance of a peaceful life together. Whilst on the one hand I want John and Ravishan to end up together and walk into the sunset, I don't want to leave Kyle out. I do, however, have a tiny theory at this stage about Kyle and Ravis [...]

    11. Dear book. I feel like we both went in different directions. I want 1 thing and you want another. I guess that's ok cause we'll see eye to eye I'm sure by book 10 right! Mare~Slitsread

    12. Book #4 'Witches Blood' was a lot more of John's/Jahn's background and while I did find it interesting, I also spent a some time wishing that we could take a peek in on Kyle/Kahlil to see what was going on with him.In spite of the fact that I start each book thinking that there are certain things that I've sorted out in my mind part way into the next book I realize that I don't know what I thought I knew and that I might have actually figured out things that I didn't even realize I knew and by t [...]

    13. Obviously, John is (view spoiler)[Parfir (hide spoiler)], and Kyle is (view spoiler)[Ravishan (hide spoiler)]. Um, right? Right. Also, I'm pretty sure the plot of Hann'yu's erotic tale may align with the ultimate plot: (view spoiler)["The milkmaid turned out to be a noble girl fleeing an abductor. The hero was revealed to be her intended husband in disguise. Everything tied up at the end and finished with the passionate couple still in perfect moral standing." (hide spoiler)]Feel free to laugh at [...]

    14. Part four of The Rifter takes on a different structure to the previous two parts.  Instead of an equal focus between John and Kahlil, the book concentrates solely on John and his time in the monestary at Rathal'pesha.  This part of the story follows John for about 18 months as he tries to devote his time to helping out in the infirmary by 'taking on' the injuries of the ushiri'im when they attempt to travel through gray space, and by aiding Hann'yu in the day to day tasks in the infirmary.Ther [...]

    15. Once again wishing there were half-star ratings. This was definitely more like a 3.5.Interesting developments! This installment was probably the most invested in this series that I've been so far. For the first time, John felt like a real, fleshed-out character and someone I actually felt sympathy for. The world-building remains fascinating - the descriptions are lush and evocative, and I'm quite fascinated with the theocracy background in general and the Payshmura religion in particular. It man [...]

    16. Things are getting dire now that Ravishan is going to be Kahlil soon after the Oracles announce the new Rifter to hunt, not knowing that they have 'The Destroyer' in their very own home all this time. I have a really bad premonition about what would happen in book 5 and I'm quite sure that John & co.'s secret escape plan is not going to be successful with so many parties want to join the ride to Nayeshi/Earth, to flee this horrible world ruled by theocracy.Anyway, it's not the first time I n [...]

    17. Almost, but not quite 4 stars. This part of the story concentrated on John entirely. And this is what my feelings were at the time I read this installment: I want Kahlil, Damn it! XDIn this part, John completely settles in monastery life - he has to remind himself why he is there in the first place. His relationship with Ravishan - although platonic - is deepening. They attend the fair and Dayyid forces Ravishan to burn the witch - young girl - and we find out he was also forced to burn his mothe [...]

    18. It's finally starting to make sense! I feel like I'm solving a huge puzzle. By the time I worked something out during this instalment, I wanted to go back to the beginning and re-read a few things just to make sure I'm right and look at the events from a completely different light. Fascinating world, good writing and a lot of mysteries to solve. Not to mention, I'm impatiently awaiting for a great romance to come. Let it be soon, please! On to the next one (catching up with Sofia at last!)

    19. This was my favorite of the Rifter books so far. I have so much love for John it's unreal. I cannot wait to read what happens next. After reread: Seriously. This book gave me so many feels this time around. Knowing what's up going into it gave me so much more understanding of the events and learning more about this world justI mean. Come one. EVERYTHING IN THIS SERIES IS GOLD.

    20. Well, the series has gotten to the point where I feel anxious about the characters' futures. That's a good sign, I think - that I'm emotionally invested in their welfare. It might be too much to want a happily ever after ending for them, but I do want it, regardless.

    21. 3.6/5I'm finally enjoying John's storyline and I'm both excited but also dreading the moment when his and Kyle's story lines finally come together. I've grown attached to these characters and if anything bad happens to them, I swear.

    22. I can't help but give it a two star rating. I just don't really care about John. I'm just waiting to get back to the "present."

    23. The more we get into it, the more I love it. There's a lot more information about the world this is set in in this one, I couldn't put it down until I was finished. Hann'yu is a blessing and I absolutely loved the devotion debate about Dayyid (the violent, self-righteous type) vs. Samsango (kind, good-hearted, model believer). Two points: Why is attraction always sexual? Like Ravishan and John would kiss and then John could barely manage to not 'make love' to him right then and there. If John jus [...]

    24. Things are not moving forward but we stayed in the same time period (arc) for long enough to settle into the story. I still like John a lot. Rav too. I'm sad knowing part of the future (previous arc) and kinda still hate that it was all mixed so far. I would have enjoyed it more if we'd moved past to present to future and not future to past to present. Just not as much fun reading the series with a heavy heart :(

    25. Question : [spoilers]How can Fikiri spy on John and Ravishan if he can not hear anything in the Gray Space?
